I never really thought about my tag on a deep level, although I'm precisely the sort of person who you'd think to do that - the idea originally came from reading about a Counter Strike pro named S0cr4t3z (or something like that), back before I actually followed eSports and was instead just vaguely aware that there was some psuedo-athletic circuit of cybersport champions,

and thought that perhaps I would strike fear into my opponents (or at least inspire a chuckle of recognition), either way it seemed a clever play on the name and it proved unique and witty enough to stick. That was probably...3, maybe 4 years ago?

But now that I look at it, it can be more than that, you're entirely right: it could be a commentary on the modernization of classic philosophical work...but I like to think that I'm mega-pro at multiplayer games, so I prefer to think of it as a parallel to the progamer :D

Also, thanks for enjoying my writing! If you like it, keep an eye out for my upcoming review I'll be submitting to the contest...won't show up until around the 29th though for fear that others will steal my ideas. Cheers :)

That was fun to read, thanks. I like the S0cr4t3z name, that's good. I guess we need an 4r1s0tl3. But yeah, in your third comment, I noticed something. Have you noticed how recent games have often incorporated names of the old greats into them? Or elements of classical mythology, stories even. I'm suspecting a Theseus in the next year or two :p

I can't wait until gaming gets its first Stanley Kubrick, and with it it's first "2001" (Valve could fulfill the position in the next 20 years, I suppose, when we actually figure out how to make REAL gaming masterpieces).

That way, we can properly game-ify such classics as The Iliad and The Odyssey without reducing them to the level of cheap cash-ins.
