Its official, Assassin's Creed 3 is announced. Check out the Assassin's Creed website to see the official trailer for AC3.

Info I got from the Assassin's Creed Wiki:
Assassin's Creed III is an upcoming game that is being developed by Ubisoft, and set for release on October 30, 2012. It will feature a new setting, as well as a new protagonist, instead of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad or Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Ubisoft have also claimed that the game will be bigger than its previous console installments.

As of 15 February 2012, Ubisoft has worked on the title for three years. In a statement made by Yves Guillemot, he shared that "what we have seen is just fabulous."

I wish the OP could have a little bit more detail and at least some links to the sources to confirm it but I've done a quick Google Search and it's legit. Discussion, anyone? It's set in the American Revolution apparently.

IGN said:
The image clearly features Native American influences, including a bow and arrow, headdress and necklace. The character is also wearing cowskin boots and holding what appears to be a Revolutionary pistol.

This seems to confirm popular rumors that the third installment of Assassin's Creed will be set in the American Revolution. For now, we're not sure, but earlier today Ubisoft confirmed that a major announcement will be coming on Monday.

Yeah, just being helpful.

haha sorry, I did add the info I just found. Its not as detailed as yours but it looks like it is going to be set around the time of, 1777 (+/- few years). I am guessing the story will take place in New England. Either way, I want to buy it when it comes out.

It seems that Ubisoft wants to release AC3 before the end of 2012. It would make sense, since the story revolves around the end of the world 2012. I only hope that they don't rush things with this game to meet that deadline and release a half-assed game that doesn't match up to its predecessors. I'm sure they could do it, since they completed Revelations 7 months after they first announced it.

Also, *fangirl scream*

Yeah, although I worry about the gameplay involving climbing and whatnot. I mean, I don't know any sprawling metropolises or tall buildings close to each other in Colonial America, aside perhaps from the occasional fort or cathedral.

Yeah I hope they don't half-ass this game either but from what I have read, it said they have been working on it for 3 years. So I don't know, only time will tell. *waits patiently for more info from Ubi*

haha I hear ya, I about jumped out of my seat when IGN posted that photo on there FB.

I don't think there's anything to worry in that respect.

I dug up a drawing on colonial Boston...

Looks veerrry similar to the usual AC maps.
  • A large spread of 2 or 3 story buildings.
  • Isolated instances of tall structures (synchronization, anyone?)
  • Attributed with significant world history

The antagonist name is Connor and his parents are:

Mother: Native American
Father: British Soldier

I don't think there's anything to worry in that respect.

You're right, it does look allot like a map from the other Assassin Creed games.

What I am expecting:
Indian bad ass jumping from tree to tree and flying down on the enemys and shooting an arrow into there face.

What will probably happen:
Bullet pierces skull before I can even
Move. (unless they add "matrix mode" :p)

lol that won't happen as long as you are fast enough for them not to react in time to shoot you.

You give the accuracy of muskets to much credit.

You underestimate the power of a ball barreling at you at also taking in the account of mukset usually being fired in rows at another row of men.

I know the accuracy of a musket is worse then utter shit. But still, if you are playing in a game where every single person you approach has a musket and your expectation is there shot will automatically miss that would be one shitty game.

However, firearms in the 18th to 19th century were not cheap. Not everyone would have one. Not to mention, they were notorious for taking forever to load. I'd say that it would be fine. The only serious musket damage would be the bayonet on the end. ;)

I realize that the size of musket balls was the equivalent of a 50 caliber (or greater) capable of blowing a mans arm off at close range. I know that war was typically fought in rows of men at point blank range. But the point of being an assassin is that you won't fight them head on.

I believe the reason that AC3 isn't set in the Revolutionary War is due to the fact that England paid Native Americans to fight on their side. It wouldn't be fun to try and kill the American Colonists.
