My opinion: Meganium

Whenever I've used it, it's been really weak, even when I have it over-leveled.

Probably because you use special attack. Meganium focuses on physical attack. I also use synthesis (FTW).

I've never gotten to use a tyranitar so I have absolutely no experience with that. I say go with Metagross, It kicks ass even as a baby Beldum XD

Tyranitar's fucking epic.
If you want a good Dark/Rock Physical attacker, then Tyranitar's the best.
