They're a respectable source, but I don't hold them as the final authority on everything.
And even then, that's a team with pokemon from mixed tiers, I anticipate that would make any smogonite rage.

Don't feel hate against legendaries. A team of pidgeys with endeavor and quick attack can take them out.

And, I don't mean any offense with the term "smogonite" or using the word rage. I don't know why, but I imagine them all as a bunch of twitchy stuck-up critics. They're often right, but I can't take them 100% seriously.

I feel slightly out of place (which is weird if you know who I am. ). I don't play pokemon competitively, so I rarely pay attention to EVs and whatnot. I play it for the strategic element of it. Planning moves, and predicting your opponent. I've grown to be good at it, in my opinion. I beat my sister's lvl 100 team with a lvl 73 Venusaur. That may have something to do with the fact that I trained my Venusaur that high, she used rare candies, but anyway. Actually, can someone clear something up for me? How does one actually train EVs? I know that each pokemon has a value associated with them, but I've never actually figured out how it works.

When you beat a pokemon the winner gains the EV Value. For example you beat a zubat which has an EV value of 1 speed so you get 1 speed EV. For every 4 of one EV that stat goes up by 1. The change in the stat happens every time that pokemon levels up, except for in Generation V where it happens after every battle. Rare Candies do not give EVs and equal EVs are given to pokemon with exp shares (you beat a zubat. winner gets 1 speed and pokemon with exp share gets 1).
