Building 1st computer

So I need a PC for gaming reasons and I hate my school Mac. They ruined a good OS by blocking almost anything and removing all exploits except for one where I reset my RAM which I don't want to do because it voids my warranty.

SPECS:
Case: RAIDMAX Typhoon. In-built cooling fan and power supply.
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-A75M-D2H. 1x HDMI, 4x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0
Processor/Graphics Card: AMD A-series. Quad-core, DirectX11, 2.7Ghz, 64-bit
RAM: 2x 2GB. That's all I need.
HD : Seagate 500GB HDD, 6Gb/s

Looks to be even better then my current mac...

If you want a PC for gaming reason, why don't you get a graphics card? Any processor by itself is generally poor in running most games.

What power supply do you intend to buy?

YES!!!! another AMD build......this being said, look at the AMD X6 processor over the quad. The quad is no slouch, but for just a bit more in price(and it is not much more at all), you can get a powerhouse. ALso, I also reccomend getting a graphics card. Check out anything from the GeForce 550 Ti and up. All are amazing.

also, check out the western digital black 1tb hard drives over the seagate drives. not that the seagates will give you problems, but I have had to replace a lot of them and I am just not a fan of seagate....but its just my preference.

Eww. AMD. Never buying from them again cause my two 6950s don't even outperform a single 570.

4Gb RAM, even Corsair vengeance (pretty cheapy but the lowest quality RAM I'd buy) is only around 19.99. I'd suggest just taking it as an upgrade. Second, A-serious processors are almost obsolete for gaming. If you want a cheap processor, Phenom X4, Athlon X4, or an i3. Buy at least a 550, and I'd suggest from personal experience not to buy AMD video cards. You will be paying out your ass for that hard drive, as those dicks in the computer industry are still saying flooding in Taiwan is affecting prices. So chop the size to a 500gb or a 120Gb SSD. I'd also suggest buying a Corsiar, thermaltake, or coolermaster PSU, because this is the main thing converting raw electricity into the electricity to ruin your computer. If it fails, it can fuck you over big time.

The thing about hard drives is that if you want more space, you can always go buy an external drive.
So, if you're looking for places to cut costs, go for the hard drive.

I'd only recommend an external hard drive if you're going back and forth between computers (for example, work and school) otherwise a second internal one is a much faster and more convenient.

What size is your Power Supply, because if you were to get a video card, your PSU might not have enough output for the card with the rest of the system.

and edit: Good luck on the build.

Get an SSD big enough to store your operating system and games.
Or, an SSD for OS, and a HDD for storage, like i did. Like godlib said, and i will say again, Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB. I got one.

Ok, thanks for the questions. I'll do my best to answer them all.

1. 450 watt power supply. In-built into the case.
2. I'm trying to cut costs, but I will definitely try to get a good graphics card. Maybe for later, though. I might just uncouple the graphics card from the processor and get them seperately.
3. I already have a 720GB ext, which should do me for now. If I really need to cut costs, I'll cut that first.
4. I'm trying to keep the budget to a minimum. From some rough calculations, this should cost about $350-$400.

True that. However, that can often be costly, and, if I'm assuming he's on a budget, then it's not too bad an idea to focus less on your hard drives and more on other things, like graphics cards.

The other thing I need is an OS. I'm not sure whether to buy an older version, rely on windows 8 consumer preview or pirate 7.

And on the subject of graphics cards, it seems AMD actually have it right. High-end graphics combined with a CPU. It's just that they're put together for about 2x the price. So I think I'll keep it.

Look up APU if you're interested. I'm not quite sure, but it seems fine.
