Cost of towns

I'd like to express my annoyance with the cost of towns as well. Specifically the fact that even after more than a week of voting to get 500 credits to name a town (which I had already named, but for some reason it was removed), you have to pay an additional 250 for your first actual plot. I seem to recall woot saying, when diamonds could be sold (pre-wipe), that prices would go down if the only way to get money would be by voting.

They cost 1000 back then didnt they? I think you got the first chunk included though, got a bit dissapointed when that wasnt the case here, but hey, its just 4 days of voting!

Actually, 5 days of voting. Also, if you do the math, the previous system was only more expensive for the first 2 days - and that was if you didn't sell diamonds.

You get 240 i 4 days, so I rounded it down, but ok. I dont see it as a huge problem, and I think it makes people motivated to build in their chunks, and not just buy land because you can, but then again, I also kinda agree on what you are saying.

For little, one or two person towns, that works fine. But on the scale of say....WorldHub, where we need over 300 plots for the whole project, it's a little different.

But with large towns like WorldHub you have lots of members, right? So if all those people are voting, and you ask for, say, half of the credits they recieve, you could pull in a lot of credits for the town expansion.

Gurw is asking for half the credits we all receive, and it's still not enough. ;)

That's a bit...ostentatious...whatever happened to building up?
Claiming restrictions (Towny to WG system conversion) happened. Changes to claiming rules happened. Mining world happened.

Everything promotes claiming more land except money cost rising since reset. Also, they are probably counting in the connection to each city as they have slightly more than hundread claimed plots now.

I still think what is meant to be a hub for all of the other cities of the world to connect to being so huge is too much. Why would the hub be bigger than even the biggest city that may ever be built?

Because its purpose is more than just function - and the function is more than just a junction for minecarts. We're also a Market, a PvP Arena, a Castle (eye candy, pretty much - but this is building up, it's located on top of the Hub Station), a Library, and two other things that I can't talk about yet. We aren't building this purely for the sake of connecting towns together - we're making it the biggest project ever to happen on Team9000 Minecraft.
