Death Sphere

One of the projects I'm planning, at some fine point, is a death sphere. It would be a giant sphere (hurr) somewhere in the world, probably in as central a location as I can make it, likely in a desert, which is built explicitly as a survival challenge to those who would dare enter it. The point would be to navigate the sphere's obstacles, traps, and horrible ways to die in order to claim a prize in the middle.

It would be clearly and repeatedly marked. Anyone approaching/entering this would be well aware that to enter it is to risk their life.

SO, that being said, I don't think that violates any rules under that condition. I'm throwing this thread here to collect clever ideas to gum up adventurers. Any especially awesome traps? They'd have to be harmful/lethal; can't have people begging for admin intervention because of a lame pit.

Claim it with a town and turn switches on (if they are necessary for operation of the thing).

You should put a central pathway under it that can only be accessed from some traps so that if someone gets trapped in a hole-type trap they can get out and start again.

As I mentioned in another thread recently, I heard second hand that Wooty had said that you can't use traps that kill people to protect your town, even if you put up warning signs about the traps. Isn't this kind of the same thing? The intent of the traps is to kill people who fail the "test" rather than to protect a town, but it is to kill anyway, so I think that just because you put signs there doesn't make it okay.

It should. There are many warnings and it is a labyrinth on purpose. If people are willing to go through the tests, then it is their fault if they die. We had something similar back the the EP days. The dungeon of the OoO would result in death quite easily, if you took the wrong path. I doubt it will matter if they die, since the whole purpose of this build is to test the skills of a player.

Yeah, it's not like there's a surprise factor, nor would there be any reason for a player to go there (unlike walking through foreign territory) except to take the challenge. I can't imagine this being an issue, honestly.

I think your towns location is good for people going to sign island...
but for putting it somewhere near spawn, I'm not sure there's any good space
but it depends on how big you are planning it... so how big is it?
and also, would it be flying coz that's not allowed :p
