You don't the only way to get money in survival is to vote or sell items ingame. Voting on both of the websites will net you 60 credits a day. I hope this helps you out.

Like Atom said try to make buddies so they'll let you join in. You are better joining an existing town or starting a town with a group because it will take time to get enough credits alone. Also, the more the merrier
For a private stash before you have a town, each registered person here can have a free condo. (Also useful if you are a lone wolf who just wants a safe stash between cave trips)
