As some of you (foreigners) may know, the US of A is comprised of states that have representatives from each to run our federal government. Each of these states have their own flag and here's the flag of my birth state (and I think my favorite flag):

The funniest thing about our flag is it has a war mode and a peace mode.

Also, apparently America declared war on us when they accidentally inverted our flag during a meeting hosted by Barack Obama

If that is the case, then it isn't "peace mode" and "war mode." Typically a flag is turned upside down to indicate distress and help is needed.
