Gmod server problem?

Hi I have tried setting up a gmod server but when I type it in I cant find the server am I doing something wrong?

Are you setting the server to private? If so you have to open the steam server browser, add to your favorites the server IP and join off of that, or you can open the developer console and type

password xxxxxx
connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxxx

If it is not password protected then let us know and we will do some tests.

I have had the same problem as you, but sometimes when the moons align one of my friends can find it and then we join off of him.
