Grandpa: Kids, did I ever tell you of a time when you could post what you wanted on the internet and you had freedom of speech?Maybe a little too far, but indeed things will be very different.
We'd end up telling ourgrandchildren about how in our day, 99.99999% of the Internet was free and accessible (not including private databases and such).
Saw this on facebook.
Don't know if legit or not but...

So, the website was shutdown and they were arrested as if SOPA was already in affect? Some dude on the internet said:
Whatever happened to "Innocent till proven guilty?", now before everyone piles on. Megaupload and it's subsidiaries don't actually own the content on their servers. They only provide off site storage for their users and the public at large. Just as YouTube or Vimeo does. MegaUpload offers to remove any copyright protected content off their servers, provided that the complainant can provide proof of either ownership or license to the protected content. For the US Justice department to blindly close down MegaUpload without proper notification is unconstitutional and smacks of Big Brotherism. How far to the day when our home movies will be considered piracy because we happen to record a video of a birthday party were music or a movie just happens to be playing in the background?
That's the scary thing. That they can do this without SOPA even being law, and that they arrested the founders of megaupload even though they don't even own the content that they host on their site. It's stupid. Now imagine if SOPA passes...So, the website was shutdown and they were arrested as if SOPA was already in affect?
I read that in this voiceThe US goverment is everywhere man. There all up in there little spy planes and spying on us MAN. There gonna come up and climb in your windows, and snatch you all up MAN. Its all over MAN. Its a fucking conspiracy.
MAN.
They arrested them because they were promoting the downloading of the illegal content. While they were making money off of the illegal downloads through their premium account system. Websites are supposed to stop piracy from happening so they don't get taken down, Megaupload was promoting it.That's the scary thing.
