Builder is basically the highest you can get from just building. Builder => engineer is really a point where you move from gaining benefits from being promoted, to gaining responsibility. You need to have your name out there and be a trusted member. You need to be active. and the like. Once you hit engineer it's not about you anymore, it's about community.

ultimately all ranks in classic above the rank of builder must be appointed. The biggest thing that is taken into account when considering a promotion is how much a part of the community you are. Team9000 is not just a minecraft community, although most of our members including myself, started here because of minecraft. Be active on the forums, be active in mumble, join some of the other game servers and play other games with us, just all around show that you are a contributing and active part of the community because its never about ranks, its about the community.

beta is not required for a higher rank in classic, however it is recommended that you obtain beta and join us on the beta server, this leads back to my previous point, that its not about ranks, its about the betterment of this community.

yes but if i want to become engineer i have to play all the games of T9k and to stay all the time on the server and on the forum :) and i don't think i can

Yep it's true, I literally built nothing to become an Engineer, but boy did I help people with stuff. Just having a good rapport with the admins and being helpful will get you there. And I do believe I have seen an engineer with the standard skin, its just that lots of higher ranks have beta. Keep up the good work and remember to keep your eyes on the prize

I didn't actually get beta UNTIL I made engineer. It is not required nor do you HAVE to buy games to play with us. T9K supports several free games such as Armagetron and Trackmania. Not to mention, just getting onto mumble and getting to know everyone and letting them get to know you palys a huge part to. You have to start somewhere if you want to move to move above builder, but as it has been repeated many times, you bhave to have an interest in the community and the ability to show us you can be trusted to go beyond that builder rank.
