I thought this was already annouced? The two paired together WILL create the portal to the sky dimension.So I was playing with too many items and the new glob forth dimension block. Then I got the new glowing block...I thought for a second...and then I made this...
IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE!
GET READY FOAR THE AETHER!
Of course, you need a mod to actually make use of them.

I've played minecraft from the second I got home to school to now, pausing only to eat dinner, so I've pretty much mastered all the new stuff. And I'll tell everyone here, to harvest those blocks on survival mode, tnt them to get the drops.

Actually, its The Ender, the new portals will go there, and Endermen will spawn there as well as the dragons. The portals explain how endermen got on our world.
