Lets discuss... How you found out about Minecraft.

So... I've been warned by Wooty that I'm trolling too much and that I'm an asshole (hinted of course)
So here's a genuine topic: How/When did you find out about Minecraft and why did you start playing it.

Here's my fruitful experience. I walk into class one day and see my friend playing Minecraft. Initial impressions were:

"Ok, what's this? Cubes? A square tree? Punching dirt?"
"Dude, wtf are you even playing? This looks like a retarded game for autistic 13 year olds."

1 week later...

"MINECRAFT IS MY LIFE!"

Dammit, why is minecraft so addictive?! The blocks, they just keep appearing in my head, telling me things, horrible things. Things like "Build... Build a giant skyscrapper... Build a giant statue...", and to make matters worse, not only are there words but IMAGES. Yes, you read right. I could picture a completed build, completely original, out of nowhere. Randomly. Sometimes even dream of it. This scared me so much in the first 2-3 months of my Minecraft gaming. Then it started to become normal. Dreaming of blocks became something I looked forward to. Sometimes, I would wake up in the middle of the night and sit straight up and think "Shit, I hope I don't forget this design in the morning" before lying back down to sleep.

So step forward minecrafters, new players AND old, share your story, your first encounters and your addiction.

I was searching for a internet place to express some creativity and Second Life required a credit card. <-- Seems like a horrible idea to me right now.

Found classic, found T9K (thankfully, and not some noob server), built stuff. When I first looked at it, I thought it was interesting to say the least. I actually played single player classic, before going to multiplayer. I never actually grasped what you can do in this game until I went to multiplayer though.

Single player was fun, small sandbox world with my little house on it. Multiplayer was better, large world with many different creations of varying architecture. I have never been a really good builder myself, makes me wonder how I got ranked so fast on T9K... but I enjoy my builds none the less.

My brother (aramat) and I would just have fun together, building random stuff, doing whatever. Then I found alpha, was love at first torch. Having to survive in the dark and kill for your life, made me want to play more and more.

I guess I am pretty good at killing things, fast reflexes I am told, so this was a very nice blend of building and adventure. I guess thats what minecraft is for me, a creative adventure where you are the storyteller.

Read these from the bottom up, stupid 600 character limit. I guess I could have just did a response blog.. Would have been easier... Well, the more you know!

My friend told me about it after he'd watched a review by Machinima. First thing I thought when I saw it: Meh, childs game.. I realized how wrong I was later on of course hahah. Well after that I was hooked and played mostly single player until I wanted more and looked up this "classic" free version. So here I am.

I played classic first though, and made a boat. Got a promo from Ozy <3 for it and got hooked since then. Played on classic for about a month before buying alpha and getting hooked again =/ So much fun

When i first heard of minecraft, i thought it was like Halo's Forge mode. I would tell people just to play halo forge as it was "funner". while on youtube trying to learn more about what everyone was talking about, i found and watched the yogscast. 2 1/2 seasons in, (aka, half a day) i was "attempting" to recreate structures from the series.

I FINALLY got beta, played on single player for a while, then discovered the yogscast servers (mai first smp experiance was being the first person to win the ice challenge that was online :D :D :D :p) i later found the smp server. like most other people, i played classic, found t9k, ranked up, enjoyed the community, was introduced to lots of games and so on... (btw, that was long :p) (and, like briggs, read bottom up)

Saw people playing it at school, found the Yogscast through a friend, watched the Yogscast Seasons 1-3 (Up to S3 P12) in 16 hours, played cracked Beta that someone gave me from February-March this year, found T9K on April Fools', got a giftcode a week ago.

' The blocks, they just keep appearing in my head, telling me things, horrible things. ' - Well it's Minecraft, all the blocks just form this way...

I found out about Minecraft sometime in November of last year through IGN.com, then my Game Informer magazine mentioned the game. I remember trying to goto minecraft.net a couple of times, but the site was down due to the huge amount of traffic. Eventually I got on, set up an account and started browsing the servers. This addiction wouldn't have lasted this long if it weren't for T9K.

I think I was one of the first builders to be promoted on classic back in september. I built this giant palace that can still be viewed in the Zone1 map. Somehow I got promoted almost directly to builder, because they we're looking for more people to build in the new zone.

A few months back, I had a friend who, whenever I saw him at school, I would say "What's up [insert name here]" He would say hey and we'd get to talking, then out of nowhere it was always "So last night I was playing Minecraft..." That went on for a few weeks so I finally decided to see what all the hype was about. I did classic singleplayer, and that was shit. So I tried multiplayer, and at first I thought it was shit until I found T9K. I was a daily player ever since then.
