If you are a minecraft fanatic then you will be pleased to hear that the Minecraft Pocket Edition is now available on the Android Market! For a slick $6.99 USD you can grab yourself the full version of the Minecraft PE. Feel a bit cheap? Zebras stealing your tooth fairy money? Do not fear because if you have the desire to try out Minecraft PE, you can do so for FREE, with the PE Demo, also available on the Android Market.
Features
Features include: Single player with a range of blocks that include torches, ladders, colored wool, stairs, reeds and several other blocks that are commonly found in Minecraft Classic. Only half of the block are available for use in the Demo version though. Another cool feature is that you can join other people's games or make your own game visible to other players and have them join. Options menu also allows the player to change their name, graphics, invert y axis and vibration.
Controls
Controls for the game are pretty straight forward. A D-pad is displayed on the screen for controls and to look around, just place a finger on the screen and move it around. To place a block, just tap the screen where you want to play the block and to remove it, simply click and hold on the block you want to remove.
Graphics
Graphics for the Pocket Edition are actually well done, as far as a phone game goes. The game is based of the Survival PC version of Minecraft. This means that all the textures resemble the PC version and this includes water. Depending on how strong your phone graphics are, you are given the option of Fancy graphics, or low graphics for better performance.
Overall, the Minecraft Pocket Edition looks like a solid smartphone game. I recommend trying the demo before purchasing it, just so you can see if this would be something you would enjoy playing when traveling or killing time in between classes.
Happy Mining!
