Yes, all the time.Have you ever listened to a song that you thought was terrible and then someone else came along and said it was the best song ever???
For instance, the song New Divide by Linkin Park.
Most people I've talked to think that Linkin Park is great. My brother loves them, and all of my friends think they're top shit. But I personally dislike their music. Especially New Divide. Reason being: it's overplayed, and in my opinion, poorly made. Not to mention, it reminds me of Michael Bay.
Generally, I like stuff I can play myself. (I play guitar.) I generally listen to rock, or alt. rock. I also like straight alternative, and punk, and most other types of instrument-based music. I don't mind dubstep (although I have little knowledge of the genre), and I'm not entirely against hip-hop or electronic music. What's your favourite type / types of music?
I despise most forms of pop and so-called "R'nB" (which actually isn't R'nB, just crappy rappin'). I really don't like how music these days is so consumerist and generic. It's like Sony BMG / EMI / Warner / other big music companies just have one big machine with Cristal and bling-bling in it, which pops out bad music by the dozen.
Most rap artists nowadays are basically facsimiles of each other. I can't tell my Tinie Tempah from my Taio Cruz, primarily because they're the same person. (Metaphorically.)
I truly admire those musicians with actual skills. There is, of course, hip-hop and pop artists who are truly talented - take Gorillaz, or OFWGKTA.
Personally, my favourite bands/artists are Gorillaz, Foo Fighters (I'm a big Dave Grohl fan, so Nirvana counts too), Daft Punk, Mumford and Sons, Hüsker Dü, Bush, Dan Bull and C418 (heh).
