This is what happened. Bryguy58 asked me to help him build something to get ranked. When we were starting to build he had to go, but momentum carried me through the building process. Thus, it may indeed be the case that his name is nowhere on the build. However, it also being the case that most days I don't build anything, I felt indebted to him for motivating me to build it. I attempted to express this sentiment to him in a private message in the exact words (copied from my chat log), "you motivated me to build it, so the credit is part yours... most days I don't build anything". This was poor communication on my part, as I can see how it could be interpreted to mean that he should try to use the build to get ranked, when in fact I only intended it as an expression of gratitude.
While it does seem that it would be reasonable for Bryguy58 not to think that he could be ranked for it, he is new to the server, and perhaps the game as well. One can imagine how a new player might take the misleading statement of an "authority" (a ranked player, myself in this case) as a serious suggestion upon which to act, even against his own better judgment.
All that said, Bryguy58 still can't get ranked for it because ranks are not given for motivating other players to build, but I do apologize to Bryguy58 for my trouble-bringing miscommunication.
