NationStates Web Game

I'd like to take this lovely opportunity to go on a rant.

First and foremost, why the hell is it set so that no one who isn't a part of Team9000 can join the region? In nearly every game that Team9000 has been a part of, it has been used as a recruitment ground of sorts. People have been able to associate with members and use that as a way to find the forums and become a part of the community, so why is NationStates any different? Are we suddenly not open to new people joining our ranks? In the game, extra members also have benefits. The game allows more badges to be earned based on people, and we'll have a stronger pull in the World Assembly.

Secondly, why does the delegate not have administrative power? I fully believe that Patchouli should maintain regional control as a fail-safe, nothing more. Patchouli was not elected, and her only claim to the title of leader is that she was the one who claimed the region name first. She should be able to use her power to remove bad things that come our way, nothing more. One of the points that has been brought up is that it wouldn't be a true democracy as not all members are part of the World Assembly. I'm quite sure that we could simply ask people who they'd like to be leader and most World Assembly nations would support the general consensus of what the community votes. We aren't running things democratically because Patchouli believes that it would be hard to be truly democratic, but why does that mean that the rules should be based on what Patchouli says, which is the furthest thing from democracy, a dictatorship.

Finally, Pixiel. You seem to be under the illusion that you saying something means jack shit in how things turn out, which is unbelievably false. You have ZERO power or right to request that anyone within the region do ANYTHING. You are the friend of the owner, but no one has elected you, no one has given you power, and no one is obligated to do anything based on what you say. Your friendship with Patchouli gives you no rights to order others around, especially since I believe she shouldn't be all powerful to begin with. In addition, I personally find issue with this. You have already succeeded in denying my personal land request because you're bitter that you didn't get the land you wanted, and felt the need to spite-fuck me for no reason, and that's not okay. Please step off of your high horse and realize that you are a member of the community, same as me, and everyone.

My requesting that people put their names in their fact books was requested by Patchouli and supported by Pyhros. As for the land, I already stated in the beginning that I never saw your request for it, and it was split between us. I got upset when you wanted to expand, and I'm trapped. Especially when you wanted to expand to somewhere you had no business expanding to anyway.

It's essentially a matter of privacy and control. I wish to be able to control who knows what in regard to the correlation of my name to my nation. If I place it within my factbook, then I have lost that control. As well, my wish to remain anonymous, to what extent I have been able to be such, will be violated.

You can control it. You have the right to belong to a different region instead.

Is the image you've chosen ironic? "You have no power here" just before Gandalf reveals that he does, in fact, have power there.

1: No one is saying people who aren't part of Team9000 can't join the region. The only thing that happened is that people thought that they should at least ask beforehand.

2: I already said, the majority is not part of the WA, why should they control it? And it being a "dictatorship" is only because the rest of you have not formed a regional government aside from complaining that the WA doesn't have control. That's not my problem.

3. Pixiel is not ordering people around. These are simply requests. Which everyone is suddenly attacking her like she's the fucking devil because she wants to know who she's interacting with in game.

4. The fuck is your problem? If anyone needs to get off their god damn high horse it's you.

Alrighty, I'll toss out an idea.

I say we elect 5 people/leaders on here, via the forums to make decisions. One of these people should be the WA delegate.

We could use this thread to do this, and that'd solve the problem of "Not everyone's in the WA, therefore a vote is impossible."

We already came up with the idea of how to do it and it was rejected because democracy isn't valued enough to be worth the effort.

You know what my days used to be like? I just played. Nobody bitched at me, or labeled me a dictator, or fed me to zombies.

So you know what? You win. I'll just go. It's been fun, I won't come back.

Then, I guess we should start working on the democratic process. I will manage the delegate and will be leaving the WA on my main nation.

I will not make any decisions with the new delegate until the official vote has been decided.

I will tally up all votes next week on November 15th.

Left because people take this silly browser thing way too seriously, and i just don't understand the point.
I don't quite understand why people feel the need to be assholes over it. If this is how people really are here, I almost don't want to be here in general.

Just sayin' that's not possible...Administrative power and being able to eject people from a region are the same thing, and the Founder can't have these powers removed unless their nation goes extinct...

Or I leave the region. Which I did. Because I'm tired of being treated like I'm some horrible piece of shit for no reason.

I actually don't think you were in any regard treated like that (well maybe by Io, but that's his personality, I doubt he truly means to make you feel that way). If I managed to come off in that negative way, I sincerely apologize for my actions.

And Waffles. I like how the "democratic process" of him just taking over was more important than not being a douche to me.

Pointless and difficult to have in an online game, but his values are different than mine in regard to roleplay purposes. If he wishes to have the democratic process, assistance will not be given by myself to him, but he should be allowed to do so. However, he probably shouldn't act mean in his speaking and demand for the power to roleplay properly within the nation.

Just asking, when was I acting like a douche to you? I tried take things serious about establishing the process.

I never once called you a dictator or any other name. In fact, I was upset when I saw that you and others left as I didn't want to cause any anger.

One thing I know about T9K.... it doesn't like structure. So trying to institute structure (democratic or otherwise) in a roleplaying game is doomed to fail or blow-up into a shitfest.

Best to live and let live on t9k when it comes to roleplaying...
