NationStates Web Game

Just asking, when was I acting like a douche to you? I tried take things serious about establishing the process.

I never once called you a dictator or any other name. In fact, I was upset when I saw that you and others left as I didn't want to cause any anger.
I left the region because the arguing and pettiness is doing my head in. I play games to have fun and to relax. The situation in the region was making me feel less than relaxed and stopped me from being able to enjoy the game. I may or may not rejoin the Team9000 region in the future.

Apologies for the double-post, but I can't help but feel the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse has had somewhat of a negative effect on many nations. Presumably all is quiet now due to nations turning their attention inwards to rebuild and repopulate, but we must not neglect international relations.

I agree. Let us continue to discuss the nuclear missi-- I mean diplomatic relationships between our many nations.

I'm going to stress this until someone yells at me for it.

I feel a lot of the hostility between nations could be solved with war roleplay, instead of flame wars via this thread. I believe I've come up with a way to make it a reality, if someone would be willing to step up and agree to implement it. In order for a thing such as this to take place we'd need to have everyone's (just about) approval, as well as some people to demonstrate the way it'd look. (sobafoc and I have agreed to do this).

So is everyone good for something like this? I just think it'll make the NationStates game a bit more fun.

Remember: Everything that happens in this thread is strictly roleplay, and will not affect your nation or it's progress, period, outside of a voluntary factbook entry.

Not to point fingers or restart anything, but the democracy promised has failed to form and the yelling at Patch was, inevitably, counter-productive and unneeded. I feel that Gallifrax as a whole urges the region to instead of solve things by petty violence, albeit rp, issues can be solved by diplomacy. However, this the opinion of the most pacifist nation and does not advise regional war. Respond as you see fit. I am in support of Kris' idea, but with a dual implementation of a diplomatic path, for the less-violent nations who happen to have no military. At all. And would also like nobody to blow it up. That is all.

Of course, I'm not trying to throw the whole region into a crater filled hell hole.
Look, I think we need to take this roleplay to the next level.

And yes, I mean wars.

Of course they'd have to be fair, and you'd need specific, valid reasons to start a war or back someone up in one. (No, not because you're their best friend.)

Here's what I propose, feel free to shoot me down, but I feel as if this would be the best option to solve disputes. While I do think lacar's decisions are just and fair, in fact, I love his knack for keeping us all at bay, but I think the roleplay will be a bit more exciting this way.

1: Wars can be denied, under certain circumstances. Basically country A has no reason to start a war with Country B, Country B has the right to decline the war. But let's say Country B was being a douche and claimed all of the land making a pretty circle around Country A. Country B has just revoked it's right, and must go to war with Country A if Country A so choose.

2: No stupid alliances. Yes, you know who you are. Keep alliances realistic (similar forms of government, location, etc.), and don't just group up with a bunch of friends to make yourselves virtually invincible, then be douches to everyone. Just no.

3: Wars should be taken seriously. That means EVERYTHING must be taken into effect. Population, Economy, % of spending used in Defense, Education, even things such as having a huge jungle that will make it expensive for enemy troops to invade, and hard for your troops as well. I mean everything should be taken into effect and judged by a neutral party. We could come up with a better system for actually percisely measuring a country's warring potential.

4: Make the building up/recovery realistic. No "Oh, crap, he claimed land near me. WAAAAAAAAARRRRRRZZZZ." It should be noted that this is not how it works in real life. Several warnings should be given and ignored/denied. And resources should be CONSUMED during wars, not just measured. That means you shouldn't be able to chain-war/have multiple going on at once.

5: No picking wars with smaller nations, unless you want A LOT of other nations down your throat too.

Now, I'm by no means leader of anything happening in Nation States. I just noted that we are having some disputes, and we are putting a lot on Lacar's shoulders. I think there could be a better, more fun way to deal with things.

I'm not trying to press anything, I just want to shout out an idea.
We could use the Defence Forces statistic, as well as the economy of the nation.

Defense forces could be used to determine how fast the war goes by, say if I had 150, and the person I was warring against had 75, then I would lose 5 (points of defense forces) a day while he loses 10.

And the economy could be also used to determine how long you can stay in a war.

I have an economy of 96, say you "deplete" 6(ish) points a day, and when you hit 0, you lose the war.

I suppose you could also toss a lot of money into one attack, and deplete your economy faster for one day, and attempt to severely drop their defense forces.

Of course, everything would have to be FAIRLY AND MATURELY REGUARDED, and mediated by a uninvolved party.
