Well, first off, what have you been doing to try to run the server, and connect to it?

It is actually very simple to make one.
1. Download the most recent version of the server software from Minecraft, net, and have the newest version via force update on your client.
2. Put the server in a completely empty folder.
3. Run the server, and then type in stop to stop it.
4. Go to "search" on your computer and type in "cmd" and click on the only thing that pops up
5. type in ipconfig into cmd to find out your ip. Use the external one.
6. Considering it is your sister, you probably share the same ip. change server.properties into a .txt and make the server ip the same as your external ip.
7. change it back to a .properties file and start the server. typing in the set server ip into your minecraft should connect you.

note: both of you need purchased minecraft accounts to connect to your server.
Note #2: a bukkit server is a bit different and I reccomend going to a Youtube video for that.

If you're both using the same internet connection (in the same house pretty much), all you have to do is:

1. Run the server
2. replace the "world" file with the adventure map, and rename the adventure map "world" (no quotes)
3. run the server with the .exe file
4. connect to the server by using "localhost" (again, no quotes) where you would put the server ip.
If it doesn't work, then.... sorry...

If it doesn't work, then I could actually host a server for you guys, but no promises on stablility. =/

localhost only works for the computer hosing the server. Trying to connect over the LAN via localhost doesn't work.

I find that the easiest solution by far is to run a Hamachi server. Sure, it's the computing equivalent of using a brick to brush your teeth, but hey, your cavities will be gone, and you'll be craftin' in no time. Anywayyyy...

Step 1: Go to the 'Download' section on Minecraft, and download the server .jar file.

Step 2: Download Hamachi. Hamachi is an application that lets you run a secure private network between you and a few other people.

Step 3: Follow the more detailed instructions here; they'll be able to help you more than I can for this step. (There's other info here that can be useful for other methods too.)

NOTE: You need to make sure all the people you want to play on your server have Hamachi, and join the network. If it's just your sister, just get her to get Hamachi, and make her join your network. Also, make sure she knows your IP.

Step 4: Join the server. The address should simply be your IP.

Step 5: ????

Step 6: Profit.

Maybe you should install the LagMeter plugin and use the /lag command, I assume that message means you're getting less than 20 TPS. Of course the T9K server sometimes lags in that way too.

You need to dedicate more RAM.

I have a server that I could set up for you to use. It will be a couple weeks though.
