Nether Suggestion

This thread just happened... it lags too much. Enjoy it on the test servers while you can!

Not sure what you mean but if you're talking about no lack on the server:
That might be because there aren't nearly as many people online on the test server. A lot of people are like me and are just waiting for the bukkit update so the test servers will be wiped again so we can finally have our fresh start.
If you're talking about your personal singleplayer world:
Yeah, there's a slight difference between running a world where you and a few others and yourself are loitering about and a server that has to cope with 50+ people.

Anyways, it's time for bukkit to get their stuff done, 1.9 and another possible wipe will be around soon enough

Yeah, I've been on servers where there's been more people than that online with nether enabled and it worked out mostly fine. Ultimately, it all boils down to the server specs. There's other things like cactus farms that make a server lag much more, really, but you have to start limiting lag by making restrictions *somewhere*, I assume.

Nether makes travel so much easier  Well, assuming you can manage to make a safe path through it >.>

I hate you the Ghast

Making a safe path through the Nether would be easy, by means of cobblestone. Ghasts can't destroy it and it's abundant. :p Thought, the passage ways would have to be a bit cramped to prevent ghasts from spawning in it.

Point is, making that path would result in you being attacked by ghasts the whole time :p

I have noticed though, that is is slower in the nether, and it crashes more often. I've had it crash on me about ten times.

And i guess The Portals has its Up & Downs Becuase 1)Portals are cool and send u to another world with diffrent recourses and the Down is That it gets laggy and makes your game crash for some people who have cheap computers :/

The nether is not disabled due to lag. It is disabled because you can indirectly grief people by building a portal in the nether which dumps out inside one of their builds.

would it be possible to have 2 designated portals, one for entry one for exit, and disallow anyone to make functioning portals on their own, so the materials would be available, while no possibility for it to wreck somones house?

You know, there was a shop in spawn that sold things. Why not branch it out to sell the items in the nether? Items are obtained, no griefing with portals is caused, and there'd be no chance for a ghast to follow someone through the portal. :D Though, that does leave the traveling faster aspect behind.

Faster traveling = minecart.
