/pvp command in survival

heyy, i had an idea which could be great, it is the /pvp command, so basically you can be anywhere in the map and you can just type /pvp and it will enable player vs player on but the good part is if 2 people want to player vs player then both sides have to have it switched on other wise you cant pvp, i think it will be better as you won't have to walk all the way over to the spawn pvp square to pvp

We have experimented with pvp in the past. Although I like your idea, it was essentially exactly what we had previously. It created a lot of problems, people tried to abuse it, and a lot of people were made unhappy.

its why i said have the /pvp having to be enabled on both people otherwise pvp wont work it stops one person turning it on and killing someone who hasnt got dogs they have to both have it enabled and when you log on it automatically sets to disabled so you dont log on and get killed before you have chance to do anything

glitches so disabling didn't work.
-For example, in when we had it previously arrows would hurt anyone.
-Also, even as mature as a person sounds, they get mad when they die and end up using something to hurt someone somehow when they have pvp disabled and kill them. (italay all over again)
-Some people are pussies and pvp off during fights.

In general, minecraft is too complex of a game for pvp on a server that doesn't revolve COMPLETELY around it.

Nether isn't even in the server (atleast I think so when I last played)
What does it change going to a square in spawn and the nether?

it takes to long to get there from where my town is and you only have a small space so you cant do stuff like hide and kill and shiz

And even in the nether you couldnt avoid people not following THE SYSTEM. Let me make an example

Shitforbrains found a nice big chunk while he has pvp disabled

Shitforbrains has been suprise attacked by a magical force

"BUT I HAVE PVP OFF!"

assfag comes and and startles shitforbrains as he launches his arrows of cheating into Shitforbrains now dead corpse and loots his items

The whole time, however, only one of them had PVP on.)

If you can find such a plugin that has 0 bugs and works flawlessly with the other plugins that Wooty has running on the server, then maybe it would work. Even if it did work, however, there would be complaints in the forums, butthurt people asking for bans and their items back, and this and that. I personally believe that Wooty has come to the conclusion that the problems and whining that ensue from pvp is not worth the trouble.

tl,dr: Any fun gained from pvp is drowned out by the numerous problems and whining in chat.

Again - this is why it won't happen. People will get tricked into doing it, something won't work with the plug-in (as Strat mentioned, we had it happen before), etc. and all you hear is constant whining. I personally don't understand folks preoccupation with PvP in Minecraft. There's plenty of servers that cater to it, why not go there to get your PvP thrills on and come back to T9K to build?

You might be able to talk the admins into a pvp arena. We had one once but it was asymmetrical and retarded.... Even still it was pretty popular and the community would have big battles on it.
