I fail to see any value or benefit of adding rims to a car. If someone could explain it to me, I'd appreciate it.

If done right, they can extremely change the aesthetics of a car. They give it style, and set it apart from it's stock brethren.

The problem is, there are "ricers" who simply think cosmetics also tack on HP; then there are people who just genuinely want a car that just looks good. Usually people blend the two, which is bad.

Example:

2009 Nissan Maxima, one of my favorite luxury sport imports. Looks pretty good as it is.

Now lets move up to the SES model. Now we have a more agressive stance, and bigger flashier wheels.

Now lets see it with aftermarket wheels. This one has been dropped and given a sport tuner look. The wheels complement the grey and have a chrome lip which usually is an eye catcher.

I like wheels if they are done in good taste.

If you take a good look it is a display car for a custom auto shop. I would definitely take a second glance at it if I drove by.

That may be. IMO they could have chosen a better way to display a very nice Buick Regal (or Cutlass). I'm more prone to walking into a place that has reconditioned a 1969 Mecury Cougar than a place that has thrown 32s on a Oldsmobile 442.

I can't argue with that.

So, I ended up going with the Fast Radius, 16" dressed with 195/45/R16 Nankang NS 2. Had em for a week and it's not the same car. Took a bit to get used to it gripping the road more due the the tires being wider and the bumps a bit harder. I love my rims. Pics to come soon!
