So I hear extreme Prejudice and Stereotyping has hit our server.

To be honest, this is controversial, and many people here would probably agree.

Believe me it would. Kids are people too, and can be very nice. They're not all trolls and griefers, which was my first argument. Once our members saw them for who they really were, it would be great.

I have to side with Wooty on this one. It's not about being "lazy". A lot of work and overhead would be required to allow this change. People are busy and have priorities. If it were a service that generates a lot of money that would be different..

People are busy and have priorities and it would take a lot of work and overhead, which Sonic admitted to not want to do.

So it's not about bieng lazy, it's about bieng lazy.

And although this isnt a big service that gets tons of money, it's minecraft. Kids love minecraft. We have a lot of fun on this server, why exclude the kids?

So letting 13 year old kids with high pitched voices making random threads and asking for a promotion every 10 seconds while annoying other people and not making any conversation serious is apparently better for the community?

Ha.

And this applies to all kids? I can agree with you that they have high pitched voices, but don't blame them, blame puberty.

Woot is doing what he has to do legally...so why are you complaining...because this community is hosted and based in the USA it has to abide by US law and that is what is happening. If you want to argue it then argue with the law.

Read the whole thread, will you?

There's a way for this to be legal...

Actually it is kind of hard to find a kid that is 13 or under and is mature.

I'm serious most of the people that have been banned honestly did what I just said in there brief time of being here.

I read the whole thread but I am siding with woot as it is better to be safe and to focus on the communtity than focus on getting faxes from parents and having to deal with all the legal requirements.

The only way for this to be possible is if we had a separate person handling such matters but as everything to do with the community is free then it would be time consuming for whoever has to deal with it.

It's very easy to find, it's just that the good kids that dont lie about their age and are perfectly mature without a microphone
get
banned.

Legally, the choice is up to Wooty. No amount of calling him lazy will change that.

As I said, it was an opinion. I said it was his website, he can do what he wants. I just keep arguing because now other people are arguing my idea, and I want to tell them that this would be the right thing to do.

The thing is it is not about maturity...it's about the fact that this is a free community and woot has many things to do and he has no time to be dealing with faxes and emails from parents. There is no one on this community who really has that kind of time and so woot has to enforce this as a 13+ community.

Sooo, You blame Woot of being lazy because he offers a FREE service to people. A service that he sits here and maintains on a daily basis? Just because he is the owner doesn't mean he has nothing to do. Just because he doesn't want to do something because it adds EXTRA work on his already quite large platter doesn't make him lazy, its called prioritizing. I am not saying he doesn't have the time, but neither am I assuming he does. Obviously Woot puts a lot of time into the servers, the websites, the service he uses to pay for all of this, moderating all of it, going to college, and whatever else he has to do. Before you judge, at least make sure you get all your facts straight. Just to make this clear, while I know Woot has ALOT on his plate, I don't know if he has the time to do this or not. Either way, he does enough, and calling someone lazy because they don't go even further out of THEIR way to offer an EXTRA service is going a little to far. You don't insult someone because they give you the wrong present for your birthday do you? Try and look at things from different perspectives and you will realize there MIGHT be other reasons behind people's motives.

Edit: The capital letters aren't me yelling, just putting emphasis on those words. I don't like to make words bold.....Sorry.

Here's the deal. I'm always busy. Always. This is my desktop right now.

I put a lot of work into making this community a success, and I do it all for free. I spend a unspecified amount of money per month out of my own pocket to keep things running (let's just say... you could buy yourself a new gameboy or four each month). I cannot afford to hire lawyers, and I do not wish to babysit. I cannot take a volunteer to handle this position, because they do not have the same stakes in it as I do. There is nothing we can do about this at this time.

Woot, your desktop looks more or less like those in our Design department at work. I hope you have 2 or 3 screens LOL

Mario, US law makes it so that >12 year olds can't be on most sites. You can't change that. Whoever was banned can come back (probably on a new account?) after they hit 13.

I understand the legal troubles, but calling all 12 year olds griefers and trolls is ridiculous. I was 12 year old once, and was certainly not a griefer or troll.

Sure it's dumb for someone to classify any person of any age, race or national origin into one group that is unflattering, incorrect or insulting to a majority of those people. Unfortunately, it happens and you cannot let it hinder you or ruin your opinion of others.

I am glad I am not 13 anymore. Everyone always told me until your a teenager, until your 13. But guess what now it is like, until your an adult, until your 18 and I am not paying for your health insurance, food, water, clothing, ect. My parents told me that and I accept it.
Those kids will just have to wait just like we all did. Woot you are doing a great job of running this forum, the servers, the chat, and other things too much to mention here. :D
Right now it's "Until your 16..." for me.
