Some good news...

I didn't buy my BF3 Back to Karkand second hand on the PS3 so I didn't really know about this complication.

Good thing EA is making it simple for everyone. Your PS3/360 account is really all the verification you need.

It wasn't for verification. It was so that EA could make money on used sales. What happened was, whoever bought the game new, used the code to play Multiplayer and full features. Once it was resold used, the person who purchased it either didn't have the code, or when they plugged the old code in, it told them it was used (of course).

Then to fully enjoy the game, you had to pay 800 MS points.

From my understanding it was to make money on used sales, and combat piracy.
