Super smash bro's clan planning thread

So part 2 of my blog post was talking about this, a gaming thread dedicated to a competitive smash 4 clan (or brawl depending). So lets discuss the following topics (and we can add more as needed):

What do we want from this endeavor?

What are our concerns with this?

What would be positive about it?

How can we use this to our advantage?

(more to be added as needed)

Now my original plan was to gather the old members see if they still had interest, see if they didn't mind moving, and see what their reactions would be. So far only 3 or so people have responded to my message and they so far don't mind reviving the thread. (moving is a whole other issue I still need to discuss) If the older members came over I figured I could just port over the op from the other forum and call it good. Upon rethinking this I kinda realized that may not be the best idea. As much as I want to old one back it isn't on the same site anymore, I need a more modern clan setup. Honestly what worked with them may not work here.

That is where you guys come in, if the old members (who I will not force to move if they do not want to come) and the new member can come up if an outline of what they want and expect from the clan, that would make my job a lot easier. Personally I just want to play smash bros. with really close friends whilst improving my Mario skills. Hopefully we can figure out what would be the best thing for t9k and make it an awesome experience.

My biggest concern, as I said in my comment on the blog post, is 3DS, Wii U or both. We could, in theory, go with both and have a 3DS portion of the clan and a Wii U portion but that would all depend on what platform people will buy it on and whether there is enough people to bother with both. I am definitely interested in this idea though and I will be watching carefully and helping out where I can. I don't know what platform I am going to get it on yet, and the platform I choose will also involve the hardware purchase as I have neither a 3DS or Wii U but have been eyeing them off for a long time xD.

I might do this. I'm not great at brawl (and probably the new one too), but I've played the original super smash brothers for 10000+ hours. It will take me time to adjust, but when the new one comes out, I'll probably join up.

Alright I didn't really give you a solid answer during my blog post but basically since this is the first time we have had 2 games I think we need to clarify which friend code is which so people can add the right system! I am still not sure if a 3ds can play with a wiiu and vice versa so for now we will assume they are separate and hope for the best. Honestly though I don't foresee it being a big problem, we will just have to play with people on the same system. I also see the 3ds being the prime version since most people have one.

oh you are one of those people now in the orginial clan I remember we never played with items ever. I personally will not use items especially when I am try to be competitive. although that would be fun once in a while I want to get both versions as well (and a mario amiibo because I love mario)

awesome to hear, the original clan was all for improving one's skill and having fun matches. I want to keep that spirit alive but help cater it to t9k and old member's taste.

I've had brawl, I'm buying SSB3DS but the issue with me. Is that. I'm no professional at it (Just really good :3) and I'm also bad at scheduling as many people might know. I've been able to fix this a lot, but not completely. So if I were to do this, I wouldn't except me to attend 100% every meeting we have. Thought. I'll attend as many as I can.

well the thing about meetings is most of them just kinda happen... like I come home from a day at work and after I eat and stuff I post in the thread " Oiii 1v1 me 5 stock on FD, my mario will kick your teeth in" then someone could be all like "bitch, please, I've been practicing defense shulk and I'll show you who is boss." After the 1v1 we discuss the results and what we each should work on.

Now since I have a job (which could become full time and throw a wrench in my plans), anyone is free to make up mini tourneys which will have a scheduled time and date (again why I am considering a new op instead of the older op) but they will take a few weeks to fully plan out and get going.

Good point but this one is better.
I can't always talk while in mumble, which pisses people off. So I don't go on anymore unless I can talk. Which never happens anymore. So I wont be able to attend those. So basically I'd be like an honorary member, but not a full blown one.

if you are on the clan page you are a full on member, mumble is a supplement to what we can achieve. Basically meetings can happen here or mumble but the final say has to be here so that the non mumble members can still have a say.

when the post goes live I will have an application process so that people can be put onto a list with their FC, System of choice (wiiu/3ds/both), and Main character. We used to have sub mains as well but idk if we need to list every character you play. then again if my old friend shows up his main would be everyone lol.

Honestly, most of what I would just want to see would be a chance to be able to play some more games, especially since by the time that I actually got my Wii's Wi-Fi working far better was pretty much when most of the clan was going out anyways.

But at least a specification of which friend code is for which version, and show which version they have/ would be playing on (I plan to get both so it doesn't matter for me, though.) Also for the member listing, you can put down the sort of custom rules they like, or if they just like to play anything goes when it comes to friendly, non-tourney matches.

that is actually the problem I'm running into, I love smash and all but real life is kicking me in the tail. I probably need to appoint like a tournament organizer and stuff to help me out since I won't always be available.

Alright so I am going to be making a series of posts with the potential OP post, the first post is me just transfering the main post from one site to another and changing it to back to forum code.

after that I will be re arranging and cutting some stuff out to see what works the best for T9k.

Welcome, one and all, to the Super Smash Brothers Brawl Clan! For those who do not know me, I am Ekgladiator. I enjoy Super Smash Brothers, and by you reading this, I can guess that you do as well. This clan will be a haven for Super Smash Brothers players. Feel free to join and talk about anything here. We are all (hopefully) friendly people. Come on in, find a new friend or two, and enjoy a good game of Super Smash Brothers!

Rules​

Obviously, all of the forum's general rules apply. Breaking them is not tolerated, and as a clan member it is your responsibility to follow them.

Rule 1: Be respectful of others. As should be the case in life, treat others as you would like them to treat you. No one likes being insulted.

• Subset to Rule 1: Bragging of any kind will not be tolerated. If you beat someone in a game, don't go about rubbing it in and trash talking them. That is just impolite and not becoming of any person.

Rule 2: Obviously, you joined for a reason. Please try to be active, and if you know that you will be away for an extended period, politely informing everyone would be a kind thing to do. We may miss you and worry about where you went!

Rule 3: This is a clan made strictly for fun. Although we can get competitive, always remember that Super Smash Brothers is a game, and as such it is meant to be enjoyed. If you feel that you cannot enjoy the game, we'd prefer you not post. That is not to say that we don't enjoy friendly competition. Just try to contain yourself. This is a game. Don't let your ego take control and make you say or do things you will regret.

This is mostly self-explanatory. Username is your Team9000 name. Nickname is the nickname in Smash. Friend code is the code used to meet them on Wi-fi. Main refers to the character they use most. Secondaries are any other characters they use on a regular basis.

Do you wish to know how to play Brawl better than you currently can? If so, then good for you! It will take you a lot of practice, but with time you will get there. Everyone has to start somewhere. No one just begins and is instantly the best.

3/4/2011 Regarding the clan:
I, Ekgladiator, decided that it was necessary to create a new clan for Smash Brothers players. The clan has been entirly recoded by me and if you see any mistakes please tell me so I can fix them. The clan is still a work in progress and it will continued to be worked on and fine tuned as the days, weeks and months pile on. Suggestions are ALWAYS welcome. Feel free to share your ideas for the clan. Everything will be taken into consideration. If an idea seems good, or if it gets a lot of support, I will open a vote. now I want to note a few things before we get super technical.

yes I know the post isnt as long as it used to be. team9000 has a 10,000 character limit and a 20 images per post limit. I have the desire to keep this all in one post (although I might do a double post just so I can get any important info on the first page)

since the image code doesn't work on t9k (so I can't link you to the thread via an image) I decided to just remove them for now, I can re add them if you guys want me too.

so my first round of changes I will make in an upcoming post is changing the members list (I will most likely remove mains and secondaries, and add in 3ds friend code and wii u friend code) since it is logical to make 2 posts for the thread I can separate the news and tourneys to give them more spotlight.

and for those wondering about the banners here is what the section was going to look like.

there are alot more but for the sake of time I'm only posting three
my biggest issue with the t9k image viewer (besides not being able to link stuff) is how small everything is. so it is hard to see what it is exactly. plus I think new banners would be a plus (though I will miss the old ones)

before I go and edit this thing again please let me know other ideas so that we can make it tailored to t9k
