'well then, this is going to suck' I thought to myself, as I came to the first bookshelf closest to the stairs, 'I don't even know where to begin.' after what I figured to be half a rotation, I decided to take a break over by the fountain. I suppose I should explain what a rotation is; because time is only measured by how the sun and moon rotates around the planet, one full rotation equals a full day, half a rotation is from "noon" to dusk, and a quarter rotation is from dawn to noon. (all those are examples of how time is measured, so you get the idea.)
"Are you looking for something or are you trying to waste my time in here."
I turned around, but all I saw was a wall of obsidian. 'O..k..,' I thought to myself, ' i'm hearing things.'
"I said, are you in need of some information, as in, looking for something or are you just wasting my time."
I thought I was going insane, until I saw the obsidian wall move in the shape of a being.
"Holy hell what are you?!" was what I yelled, because seeing obsidian move is not something I normally encounter.
"I am the keeper of this library, I go by many names, among them is the Obsidian man, while my true name is Gurw."
"I see, well Gurw, my name is Mighty. and yes, I am in need of some information, if you'd be so kind as to help me."
I thought it'd be in my best interest to be formal to him; I had no idea what he could be capable of.
He took a long pause, swishing a bottle of a suspicious liquid. I decided to have a quick look around, especially at the fountain; for some reason it piqued my curiosity, perhaps more than a simple water feature should.
"Excuse me, Gurw, but would it be alright if I had a closer look at this fountain?" I asked, better to obtain permission before I actually break the everything.
"I don't understand why, you still haven't told me what you are trying to find out more about."
he was right, I completely forgot to tell him that. Truth be told, I had forgotten it myself. oh wait, how foolish of me, I remember now, it was the whole reason I came down here in the first place.
"I need some information on the Order of the Lotus Dragons. Preferably about their history involving the dragons for which their family line is named." Hopefully he'll have some information about them; if he didn't then I'm almost positive no one else would.
"I see, well what I know of them off the top of my head is severely limited, I'm not sure you'd-"
"I don't care," I cut him off abruptly, " I need anything that could help me, any information at all would be useful at this point."
Gurw gave me a hard, cold stare, yet there was something.....off about him.
"Gurw, are you alri- where did that whiskey come from?" I almost didn't believe it myself; out of nowhere he had whiskey in his hand, and it wasn't there earlier.
He looked at me with a puzzled expression and said "What this? this whiskey was in my hand since you came in."
A wave of puzzlement came over me, I was sure that whiskey was not in his hand when I started talking to him, but at this point, I was talking to a man made out of obsidian in an underground library with a mysterious fountain. anything seemed possible now.
"...anyway, can you tell me what you know about the family?" I asked in a hurried tone, I was growing impatient.
"Well, the Order of the Lotus dragons is one, if not the oldest clan in all of history; their clan-lineage dates back to even before the creation of the Alliance of Nine Thousand. Now, i'm sure you have heard all the stories in which they mercilessly killed off the beasts for which their family was named correct? well, I can tell you right now that all of that information is false. How that happened has to do with the creator of the Lyoi (pronounced levee) itself, the Grand Witch. The Grand Witch's actions are the reason the Alliance of Nine Thousand was formed. Long ago, the Grand Witch began experimenting with spells from the tolms of the beings who are said to have inhabited this land before disappearing completely. Anyway, The Witch began creating life, but in the loosest sense of the word. She created what we call creepers, mutated the spiders into what they are now, destroyed the laws of nature by resurrecting the dead in the forms of zombies and the beinagrind, whose skills with bows are the sole reason we have archers. After many years, the Witch soon felt her life fade, so she created offspring in the form of two witches to whom, unfortunately, we owe a rather large debt to. These witches' disciples later evolved into the potion makers, and the enchanters; who face some harsh prejudice due to how they acquired their profession. While the two witches focused on that, the Grand Witch developed a way to turn creatures against their masters, including the dragons. This spell tortured creature who had the misfortune of becoming afflicted with, including the dragons. The spell split the creatures' very life force in two, one side remaining loyal to it's master while the other full of remorse and blood lust; the two sides fighting viciously inside the creatures mind. The Order of the Lotus dragons saw this somehow, and decided it would be best to preform honour killings instead of letting them suffer any more pain. That is what happened."
I was speechless, after hearing all of this, I couldn't believe what I had said to her. I needed to make things right.
"Gurw, thanks for the information, i'm afraid I have to go." I said to him as I rushed up the stairs.
"Anytime." he called back.
Now then, all I have to do is find her and....apologize....to her. this won't be any fun.
