Ardycraft. (Yes, another reference to the former engineer ardyarde's server.)
Plenty of plugins, protection (Towny, Worldguard, password protections and stuff like that), custom ranks, admin staff, 50-or-so regular players. Avo hacked lava and put up swastikas at spawn.

Merely protecting a server from potential grief is not enough. Successful aVo defenders will also have several fail-safe measures in place. Not just history checks, but rollback abilities, regular off-site backups, etc etc, as well. As an example, Hawkeye logs (almost) everything that occurs on a server, and can successfully roll back almost any change. In which case, when aVo posts a video of their "successful" raid on your server, you post a video response of the rollback and successful undoing of their 'hard' 'work'.

Successful aVo raids only happen on already doomed servers.

Uhh...wooty has a program set up that takes an "image" of every world on our classic server every 15 mins. He has around 300 GB of pictures from this, and each world can be rolled back to any of those pictures. Nothing done on classic is ever permanent. We are very well protected thanks to woot's awesomeness.

Avo writes all their own hax. Def not 12 year olds.

It doesn't sound like anyone needs to worry about anything on T9k servers though although it is annoying when everything you built for the past week gets reverted (happened before)...

where does it say they make their own hacks? last i checked, you could find all sorts of hacks on google, and certain 'hack communities'

Classic is set up to sustain a massive attack at all times. We have the appropriate admin tiers to handle this, and we do successfully on a daily basis. It runs on it's own box, with off-site backups, so "hacking" isn't a huge worry.

Survival has full, revertable history, as well as Towny covering the most important areas. The server process is completely sandboxed (I don't trust Notch's code one bit), and makes backups off-site as well.

There is nothing to worry about here.
I feel like half the people in this thread missed this post, so here is the bump.

Also, could have been trolls, but I remember seeing something in chat along the lines of "TEAM AVO ATTACK NOW' and "TEAM AVO RULES" , I ended up banning the three users spamming that, and if there was any extra grief, it was unnoticeable. As always, we reverted any grief we found. If this was a serious attack, it was pathetic, but I think it was just a few trolls.

Not going to lie, I watch their videos and subbed to them. One of their members makes their client hacks. They actually look down upon what they call "skiddies" following their footsteps and greifing random servers. Never attempted what they done because I know how it feels for some asshole to break your stuff and it is NOT reverted, so I simply keep it at I watch their videos. Also, they do not greif classic servers, and if survival was greifed, by them, it would be easy to tell. aVo wouldn't look so bad to most of the MineCraft community if other people didn't try to be like them. Most servers they do attack are already fucked with some admin that isn't on or one that has no clue how to administrate a server. Not trying to say aVo is awesome or anything, but I'm getting you level of what they are.

Rollback was there, only a little buggy. We had off-site backups, the avo problem was gone in a short time.

That's Classic. Release is a little different. Once again, aVo hasn't really done Classic.
