The sad story of the Wii

Back then the Wii was born, it was the hippest thing on the market flying off shelves and bieng christmas presents. Games came out for it so fast and many of them became hits. It's competitors couldn't keep up, the PS3 looking like a fail and Xbox 360 was selling very slowly. Then suddenly, a year passed. The Wii was still at the top, but then something happened. Something so unexplainable, the Xbox360 started to push past the Wii, with all of it's first person shooters.
And this continued with the Wii, who was first at the top and cruising to now barely surviving, watched as the Xbox360 gained more fame and fortune. And now today, the once filled SSBB wi fi battles are empty. PS3 was hacked. But Xbox360 came out with an elite version and kinect. And now Wii is considered girly.

But in the end PC was always ahead of them.

Wait. Microsoft made PC.

And Xbox360.

The wii had strong sales because it tapped into the previously unheard-of casual market, and still does (to an extent), not because the games were necessarily any better. I maintain that Madworld, Resident Evil 4, and SSBB are the only 3 Wii games ever worth buying.

And when it comes to SSBB, the community still exists and is decently large, but many have migrated over to more refined, modded and unnoficial versions of the game that offer a more competitive experience like SSBB+ (this is from the perspective of one who has only seen these things and not been a part of them).

Microsoft did not make the glorious amount of PC hardware so they do not get credit. They have windows, microsoft game studios, xbawwx etc. Wii was never really gonna be a long term thing, games were aimed at a younger audience, the PS3 never really got it's bearings so I've heard with the lack of internet community, and the choices of games, etc. The 360 is what is left. PC will always be better but most people do not want to bother customizing it or researching to get the best combination. Also it can get expensive.

The Wii was the top-selling console and most games sold for about 3years straight before th 360 and PS3 started releasing some very attractive and great games. The Wii owes this dominance to the casual market. Unfortunately, the casual market only cares about a few games, and they began losing interest in the console. Did you notice how after a few quarters of steadily not being #1 Nintendo announced its new console?

Well, I need to say, Wii sucks already. I have one and I didn't buy a game for it since, I think nearly 2 years. No more really god games coming out and the online battle isnt working well and... well... the Super Mario series are getting easier and easier each time >P
I liked the Gamecube a way more!
Today Im more into PC games : ), and I think about getting a 360 when Halo 4 is released.

I loved the Wii at first, then I played Call of Duty and fell in love. Then Call of Duty pissed me off so I had an affair with Battlefield. Meanwhile my Wii was collecting dust.

Softmodded my wii.
Do what you want cause a pirate is free, you are a pirate. YAR HAR
After a year or two on my wii, I sold a lot of my games, Why?, because they were games that were for the Xbox 360 and PS3 also, and the games that were for the wii were so much shorter than those on the 360 and PS3. Like sonic unleashed, i beat that in two days, watched the xbox version and was like, I wasted my money on this?!
Then I bought an xbox 360 and I love it.
The only games i still play on the wii are like mariokart and SSBB and gamecube games. that's it though.

does it have good platformers=hell yeah does it have nostalgia=yes does it have a virtaul consol allowing you to play hudreds of games=yes, its callled XBOX MARKETPLACE does the xbox have good games= yeah. my friends all got xbox 360's after they got bored of the wii.
Also, the wii was supposed to make you move while you play. Nowadays, all you do in the games is tilt your controller.

IMO, DSi > wii. actually, Gameboy > DSi > wii
