I really encourage everyone to post something that can compete with THIS...

Some Q/A that I anticipate:
1)How big is it?
-Circular diameter is 39 blocks. It extends all the way down to bedrock.

2) Why?
-Because I can

3)No really... WHY?!
-Fine, I'll elaborate. Minecraft is the kind of game where we can make big things a reality. I have seen some real and fictional sources of inspiration, and I wanted to see if I could construct something similar. If nothing else, it was something to do while waiting for 1.8.

4)So what was your inspiration?
-Niagra Falls is one of them. Do any of you read the One Piece manga? There's a setting in there called "Enies Lobby" that includes a giant circular waterfall.

5)Where is it? I gotta see this!
-Due to a perceived greiving threat, I will not post the exact location of the hole. However, I will not stop you from finding it on the map and coming over to see. I have not protected the chunks with Towny, and I would greatly appreciate it if nobody claims the land, too. For those of you who pay attention to my activities, I would also appreciate it if you didn't disclose the general location. I mean, don't even say anything like, "It's west of spawn" :speechless:

6) Is that a minecart track down there?
-That track belongs to the residents of L4ank's town. They have graciously allowed me to dig around their track. As such, I have a responsibility to see that the track is not griefed, so please don't play around with it.

A long time ago, an organization called the MCC made a hole much larger than that. It was a larger fall and had a greater width and length. But this hole is still mighty fine

ok, here's what you have to do, cover the top with trap doors, attach them all together somehow with redstone then make a lava pool on top of all the trap doors, make a balcony somewhere safe and away from the hole, but somewhere where you can still see the whole thing clearly from, the activate a lever and aaaaaaaalllll the trap doors will open, and batta bing, batta boom, you've got yourself an obsidian/cobblestone-lined hole (not sure what it would be, but I'm sure both would be awesome) and then post a picture of it. Why? you might ask, why not! is a better question!

That kinda inspires me!
How many blocks deep is it?

Goes from sea floor to bedrock - about 54-59 blocks.

Why? you might ask, why not! is a better question!

In my opinion, a waterfall-lined hole looks more impressive than a cobblestone hole. A completely obsidian hole is also impressive, but is veeerrrryyyy time consuming to find and place lava. "Why not?" you say --> I don't think I have the time or motivation to do this.

fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine, well atleast put tnt everywhere around it (or at the very least how ever much you have) and blow the **** out of it!!!(WOOT EXPLOSIVES!!!)

The day before the wipe I am going to make a 1x1 tower, all the way till I cant do it anymore, then I am going to jump off. Into water ofc.
