I'm actually aiming for more content
Here's something interesting, not really a mod but still counts:
Dino D-Day was kind of terrible, it was a tragedy because that concept NEEDED to work
Some of my favorite mods:
-
Zombie Panic: Source
Managed to capture the feel of frantic Night Of The Living Dead-style "barricade the fuck out of everything and last as long as possible before they inevitably bash the door in" gameplay perfectly. The anti-L4D.

Basically anything for ARMA II.
ARMA II is not so much a game as it is a wargaming
platform. It was designed with modding front-and-center, and besides having one of the easiest-to-use/most insanely powerful editors (it has its own scripting language) it has a relatively large and noob-friendly modding/multiplayer community running servers with everything from D-Day to Zombie Apocalypse to Cops n' Robbers scenarios...this is more like Army-man G-Mod than it is a military simulator, but it can be that too
-Starcraft: Brood War's custom maps.
"Raccoon City" (pictured below), the definitive and so far ONLY depiction of Resident Evil in RTS form, is the best custom map in any game, ever. Ever.
Ever. EEEEEEEEVVVVVEEEEERRRRRRRRR. That might just be me, but if you don't like Raccoon City then you have any of a million (literally, something like that) maps to choose from, each of them crafted with Blizzard's extremely versatile and easy-to-use editor.
Look at the minimap in that shot. At the start, when the timer at the top there read 1:30:00, you covered ALL of it. Yeah, the last stands get kind of hardcore.

COD4: Galactic Warfare
Okay, imagine this:
Call of Duty.
Plus Star Wars.
YES, YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT.
