Tribute.

I assume he's wondering just how you back up a server like that, what the resource constraints are. My experience with a server that hardly anyone plays on where the world directories add up to about 18GB (if I recall correctly) but the daily delta can be only 80MB some days is: I haven't purged any snapshots yet because I'm a hoarder and that hasn't really caused any disk space issues yet :D I wonder with the number of users on the 1.0 server how much churn there would be, and in fact even how long it would take to do the backup given the number of chunks that would have been touched, since it seems the only safe way to do the backup is with the server down, so you kind of need the backup to be quick.

I don't really recall, it's been a long time. I probably just rsynced the world on a schedule to a backup folder (only keeping the changed chunks, of which there weren't /that/ many). These days there's probably plugins that handle all the incremental backup and storage for you.

I'm pretty sure if you hunt the old forums you can find the schematics for Cydonia. Cities of the Server also had a number of pictures from that era if you're looking to recreate them

Well, I feel nostalgic now.

Not hopping on minecraft right now, though. I kinda ragequit a couple months back over a server-side bug and I'm still angry about it.

Oh yeah, I suppose even with a lot of players, they were mostly in a few big towns, so probably not too many chunks changed!

Schematics would be awesome!!

..but I didn't find any in the thread :( Pictures yes, but I was hoping for a quick fix! Maybe one day when I run out of other things to do.

I can't speak for Wooty's setup, but the plugins I used for backups just kept a log of which block was removed or added by hand. So a big WorldEdit grief wouldn't necessarily be logged.

I think I noticed something recently about Prism having WorldEdit support, but I don't know how good it is. Prism didn't even handle item frames properly back then, and it's not even supported for Spigot nowadays, so most likely worse. As a result I don't trust it as the only backup of my very, very important blocks :D

By blocks he means his porn stash for the upcoming snapshot where you can stream video. Thank god he's a conscientious admin otherwise.

1.14 is also looking pretty cool.
Downsides: Iron farms need reworking and villagers have less stock of trades (fewer trades before they’re disabled).
Upsides: You can make underground villages, you can determine which professions they have based on workstations, they re-enable trades at their workstations, and they have a cute daily schedule where they sleep in beds at night then work at their workstations during the day.

I read the patch notes last night and it has me so hyped. If someone doesn't open another public reunion server I'm gonna open my own (and yes @DOS622 it will be vanilla).
