In alpha, you're alone. But not anymore...

minecraftwar.jpg

Intro:
People build stuff, but you never bump into anyone and there's not much co-op going on.
This mean WAR, i mean really, what brings people closer together then a good killing?
A warmap with kingdoms, fighting and building to own all!!!
You can build war-posts and cactus-walls and use arrows and towers to actually kill people xD and create seiges at standard times, teams can retreat into basements of the castle when it's taken over and really become and underground resistance. ;)

Proposed Rules of engagement in possible beta try-out:

2 Countries

Start out with a small town, build it into a kingdom

You can build something within 20 blocks of the previous building, this will extend your kingdom

Waging war and destroying other kingdom's buildings fully after a takeover will effectively destroy that amount of border-gain

Killing someone will ban them from the map for 1-2 hours, this will give the other team an edge and make killing worth it, this will create excitement over not getting killed.
You will respawn in normal map and build until you can get back in

This is Survival, so stealing items and assassinating the other team is possible

Massive red-stone traps

Extreme mountainous area

Work hard on Obsidian to defend your land and to create solid defense structures

Admin oversight as judge during a weekly war

Sounds like a pretty awesome idea. It would definitely add some different kind of fun in alpha.

although I will disagree with your original contention that there isn't a lot of co-op going on. Perhaps your house is just not near anyone else's? I dug a tunnel from my house to Conrod's in alpha, and got loads of help from like four different players. Everyone helped out with the work, showing me how to put in old style boosters, or even just donating some iron ingots so I could lay track.

This seems like something that requires way more people than we have available on this server...

we can hold up to 120 people on the server atm.

I support this idea 100% since im a master of traps, it would also be a fun pvp system.

cmon man, there are around 500 cools in minecraft classic alone... That's A LOT of potential whitelists.Assuming we can make at least a quarter of them be in this, this idea will be great.

capacity =/= population
To fill up that 120, we'd need a lot more people then we currently have.

If we whitelisted a quarter of them, we would still not have enough because not all of them are active, or even have alpha. We'd have to start whitelisting guests, and lots of them. The server would literally have to be near its player limit of 120 for this to effectively work.

Maybe there can be some beta testing of the war map? Rather than going right out of the gate with 120 person limit, create a smaller map for fewer people. Say...32 or 64. Obviously there would also need to be other adjustments made, such as fewer territories and the like.

It would be just easier to have a red vs blue war.

Layout: 2 castles, one red one blue.

Each city is manned by say 5 people min, 15 people max, citys would be balanced of course.

Objective: Start of as a small town and work your way to being a kingdom, spread out your borders and such.

Objective (2): While building and fortifying your defenses you may go out and kill enemy players when they are in your Territory's border and loot there items, or do some recon in the enemy's base without being caught.

Would be a fun pvp system were you could plan out sieges.

Or woot could make this a actual event that would happen say Saturday every week.

Edit: Aaah, i love the amazing and silly ideas this wonderful community comes up with.

Obviously, re-entering the map after a kill takes about 6 hours, this will effectively give the other team an edge for killing someone

6 hours? Maybe, let''s just say 1 hour, or even 30 minutes, but they can spectate with noclip but cannot chat (so that they can't tell enemy information to their own team)

I like the no chat and no-clip idea, but even 30 mins seems a little bit drastic, 5-10 mins would stop everyone raging out of boredom.

Killing has to be worth it, this won't be an event that can be held in a day unless the map is 50x50

You want people to avoid getting killed, when you're dead you're dead, for like, 2 hours, the enemy has an edge and actually finding and killing you took quite some effort in the first place

If you want the excitement from not getting killed you need the depression of actually being killed,
or this would just be Classic, not alpha ;)

Plus, when you're dead in the map you can just go ahead and build other stuff in the normal one until you get back in ;)

no-clipping makes no sense since you can converse enemy intel after you get back in (although that could be exciting too)

I'll keep putting ideas in the first post, keep em coming!

hmmm, but still 1 hour still seems drastic, i could deal with 30 mins though.

I suppose it would be legal to make traps to kill enemy players?

Ignoring the other 30 billion ways you can just tell your team on oh say mumble. or vent. or IM. or email. or facebook. what's going on.

Maybe there are only specific areas that trap can be laid? An issue that comes to mind is that one team may work on building a minefield and then it'd be very difficult to assault one side or the other. Maybe only allow traps inside building?

Hmm that was what i was thinking, it would be unfair if you could lay traps all over the map, maybe limit the traps to each teams castle?
