So I was sitting around wasting time and thinking about an interesting thread. And I came up with this. How about I make a thread that is open to the public, where people can debate, or give their opinions about highly controversial things? Well, here we and heres how this is going to work out. I'm going to post a poll of a few topics that are interesting and people will feel opinionated on, and we vote on which topic we would like to discuss. Then, for a week or so, people will post and debate about why said topic should or should not be implemented, looked down upon, legalized or whatever the idea is.

Rules:

No making up random facts -
"67% of people agree with this"c

Please be respectful of others opinions and ideas as you would your own.
"Dude that's stupid."

This is sort of along the lines of the second rule, but, please realize that your opinions are your opinions, you're not trying to convince everyone you're right, just backing up why you would feel the way you feel about a topic.

Any ideas about how to make this conversation better, or topic ideas will certainly be accepted.

WARNING: Topics will be highly controversial and could be offensive to some if you can't agree to disagree, this isn't for you.

no you. my argument is valid and youre's not. 99% of the people agree with me. It's been present in a scientifical study. And it's completely unrelated to the deep butthurtness i feel inside of me from these hurtful words you just said.

Why's that?
So, you want us to discuss controversial, hot-button topics on a forum where there is a veil of anonymity that protects the user if anything truly offensive is said and expect the discussion to go smoothly? I've been around message boards and the like far too long to know that it isn't going to end well.

Good point. But, if people can handle things maturly this could be interesting and fun.

Personally, I think that just choosing topics out of random then having people debate on them is just weird. the forums just to. I don't really like it, sorry, Outlandishh, not to be rude or anything. The topics can come up when they come up, I believe, and it will just cause a hella lot more drama on the forums. :(

Not looking for drama. Don't be sorry. Its not dramatic to discuss topics totally unrelating to your own personal life

Well I just went out on a limb hoping this would be interesting to some people who enjoy conversations about hot button topics, and hopefulyl those who can't handle such conversations will steer away. We'll see how it goes, and I appreciate your open mindedness if thats a word.

Thanks, and it's a great idea to get peoples opinions out more! Hope this works out for you!

IMO people in Team9000 seem very closed to new ideas at the moment anyway Outlandishh. I think it's a 70% spread of narrow-mindedness due to the fact that the server is going through a revolution. I shouldn't take it personally if I were you. In my country both of those topics are highly frowned upon and are not performed. This is why i am naturally interested in what the rest of the world think on the ideas. I think it is a good idea to get people in the forums more.

I agree with 'Juco. I didn't expect this type of reaction to this - maybe I'm shortsighted.
I'll add my opinion to the 'drum' as it be, once I can see I won't be the subject of a shitstorm.

Oddly enough, these "discussions" started on a retro and new-age video gaming community, that I think I will take part in. As long as these standards remain true:
1)
I won't be the subject of a shitstorm.
2)
people can handle things maturely (<--fixed!) this could be interesting and fun.
3)We try to not always discuss the hottest button topics such as Euthanasia and the death penalty, if this is going to try and be fun, at least something a little lighter and more cherry than assisted suicide might help every now and then!

Good idea Ginyu. Perhaps a lighter but a heated debate -

Terraria is a cheap, 2-D port of Minecraft.

If others thing this is O.K, I will start us off.
