Why aren't beds spawn points anymore?

Admins disabled it, as well as using ender pearls. I don't understand why, though.
I can't say why for the ender pearls, but the beds thing was so it was more "survival"ish, so you actually have to be worried about dying instead of "Oh I'll just walk back in 5 seconds if I die"

I don't see how making you walk/boat 10 minutes to get home is anything other than a severe inconvenience. They already had it so dying in Mining wold took you to spawn. The only time people die at their own houses is by accident, and making you walk all the way home because you missed and fell off your roof is ridiculous.

This does not add the enjoyability of the server in any way at all, it's just annoying.

Well don't jump off your roof.

But if you wanted it to be more Survival-ish, wouldn't you have the bed spawns on? I thought the bed spawns were enabled, because that's how Mojang programmed it. Unless I'm completely wrong.

It is. By "Survival" I mean, actual survival, not the name of the Minecraft mode. That is to say, you have a fear of death. With beds as spawns you could just throw a bed down anywhere it's dangerous, and if you die you just respawn right where you were.

That's true, but when the bed spawns were activated, the mining world/nether still sent you back to the Spawn (At least when I tried), and you wouldn't be able to place beds in the Overworld, unless you have permissions for a certain location.

But you already -couldn't- do that. The only place your spawn bed worked was in your own overworld house that saved and worked to buy. In your own land the only place to "just throw a bed down" is in house or 20 blocks to the left. That's not exactly anywhere.

Ah yes, I've forgotten about how the new world works. You'll have to excuse me, as I never played in this one.

I generally dislike disabling vanilla aspects of the game that don't really have to do with griefing. Sure, you could enderpearl into a protected area, but you couldn't really do anything in there in the first place.

If the goal is to make the game more challenging, change the server's difficulty to hard and allow mobs to spawn within towns.

Beds: ok, agreed on the survivalish part
Nether portals: meh, ok
TNT: ok...
Chicken eggs: should be enabled again
Ender pearls: seriously??? disabling them was really necessary? and what if you fall in holes in protected areas?
I used pearls for saving friends trapped in holes. I used pearls when building projects. Teleporting is not griefing. Teleporting isn't a bannable offense...

chicken eggs were thrown in protected areas, making immune (protected) chickens, which produces more eggs, more chickens, more ...
if ender pearl isnt disabled for some dupe issue than i see it as way back.

I heard that they disabled the chicken eggs, because someone decided to spam chickens all over Spawn.

Yes, but now there's a 20 chickens limit for each chunk, right?
And maybe, not sure if possible, it could be possible to disable chickens spawned by throwing eggs in protected areas (except yours)...

Yeah, the ender pearl issue doesnt make any sense.

I've used ender pearls multiple times to help town members get out of protected holes. Had they had to have suicided, hours of mining diamodns and iron would have been lost. However, now that ender pearls are disabled, if I fall into a protected hole, I'll have to suicide, and lose all the valuables that had spent mining (for hours).

Would also like to say... that if the reason ender pearls were disabled because of people jumping onto spawn building to peer into the admin room (not sure if this is the reason or not, but if it is), that's a silly reason. People can still jump onto the top of the spawn building by jumping off the airship, logging out, and logging back in.

The bedspawns in the overworld used to work fine and it was alright by me. Is there any official statement as to why bedspawns were removed?
I don't think the slight error of falling off a building justifies walking the several minute trip back. Just earlier today I was followed by a player named olsonz who was using flymod. If he hadn't died by a spider he could have followed me back to my deathpoint and taken my stuff.
While the mining world could retain it's survival style, the overworld bedspawns should return. It just saves time and patience.
