Also make sure to update to Minecraft 1.9 Pre release 5, or else you won't be able to get in.

Download the 1.9 pre 5 jar from Here

Then replace the minecraft.jar in your bin folder. (C:/Users/(username)/Appdata/Roaming/.minecraft/bin/)
with the one you just downloaded.

Did it ask you to replace minecraft.jar? and when you launch the game does it say 1.9 prerelease 5 at the bottom?

Nope it didnt ask me that and it still says Minecraft Beta 1.8.1 instead of 1.9 prerelease even do i replaced the .jar

ok, download it again HERE, delete your minecraft.jar in your bin folder, then place the one that you downloaded into the bin folder, and rename it to "minecraft.jar" make sure there is no (1) or something similar after it.

No, I have not logged on to beta in a while. I'll start playing when we have a good system installed. Because of all the updates I don't want to start playing until we have a more permanent system.
