POPULATION ERUPTING IN NEW TOWN!
By Junior Corruthers
CathedralScene.jpg

Cathedral Park with the Hollow Hills in the distance.

The village of [entercitynamehere] is firmly founded and talks are being held within the community to re-name the settlement because of it's rapid growth. People are confused to why a name hasn't been chosen sooner. 'I don't know what the bloody guvnors up to cor blimey' says a surly police officer.

The first neighbourhood of Alphatown is very established with many new citizens moving their families to the area. "I love to frolick in the park of the old Church" says Mr. Ooz of Pioneer Lane. The success of the industry of [entercitynamehere] has lead to even more people wanting residence. A new burrough to the west of Alphatown has been opened for building and the restrictions of height has been lifted due to the stability of the ground. This means bigger accomodations can be constructed to house the incoming migrants.

With the dis-illusionment of a nearby empire many refugees have flocked to the city bringing with them the cultures of their home. Sometimes it is not desired as it can bring criminal elements into the city. The government is setting up a Justice System to deal with the influx of crime. Elections are to be held for the new Police Commisioner who will hold office in the brand new Dam Bridge Precinct overlooking the Dam Loch.

Youths are being tempted by the many mushroom shops in the town that are springing up. One concerned mother squealed 'My young Mikey was all magic again, he's not doing his school work!". Processes are in place for a restriction and prohibition on the sale and supply of mushrooms. Government officials are also suspicious of the synthetic green substance found in these particular shops.

Tax is being lowered for the commercial sector due to the lack of enticing shops and activities there are to enjoy in [entercitynamehere]. 'It really is a shame I have nothing to do but eat pizza and mushrooms all day' says a young refugee coconut boy. Hopefully this will entice good-willed capitolists to build interesting job opportunities and activities.

All in all [entercitynamehere] is becoming a better place to live due to a responsive government and fast building construction teams. Mayor Juco last said in a statement 'meh'. But most residents are happy with the level of commitment from their fellow friends in their community.

SERIOUS TRAFFIC ACCIDENT CAUSES HUGE DELAYS AND LOST REVENUE

By Axel Pickett

July 18, 2011 - A traffic accident involving a small aqua blue sedan and a milk truck prompted a temporary road closure at the intersection of [road 1 name here]/[road 2 name here]. The collision occurred approximately at 6:45 A.M. on Monday, when the driver of the milk truck failed to stop, forcefully side-swiping and flipping the sedan. Damage estimates of the accident totaled $35,000, including the loss of one sedan valued at $27,000, engine damage to the truck, and $400 in spilt milk. The driver of the sedan suffered a concussion from the accident and was airlifted to the hospital in [name of neigboring city] because of the lack of adequate medical facilities in [name of Zone11 town]. He is expected to make a full-recovery.

The driver of the milk truck was declared unscathed upon evaluation by [Name of Zone11 town] Fire Department paramedics. The driver's iPhone was also found on the floor of the front passenger seat of the milk truck running a popular mass-multiplayer online block-building game, perhaps suggesting that distracted driving caused the accident. If found at fault, the driver of the milk truck could be fined and have his commercial driver's license revoked. A group of upset citizens motioned at the scene of the accident to have the driver banned from the town. Local admins authorities have refused to comment if any such bans will be levied against the driver.

In addition to direct damages, the accident also incurred thousands of dollars of lost small business revenue and work hours. Local authorities forced the closure of businesses adjacent to the intersection for the day, including [name of barber shop] and [name of gym], due to the leakage of gasoline and other potentially flammable liquids. [Name of local cookie shop], where the milk was destined, also suffered from the loss of the milk.

"We had to turn down some customers, because we ran out of cookies and the ingredients to make more," says shop owner [name of owner].

Daily revenue intake for [name of cookie shop] was nearly halved, dropping from $1,000 to $550.

Mayor Juco has pledged small business owners $5,000 to make up for the lost work hours, despite the town's fledgling economy.

"In the long run, it is worth it," said Juco. "We can't have small business owners suffering so soon after the town's founding."

Ellicott Company Opens Zone11 Service Shop

Ellicott Turbomachinery, a world-wide manufacturer of steam turbines and centrifugal compressors has opened its 15th global service shop near the airport to support industry in Zone11 and the surrounding area.

According to company President Anthony Castillo, "Zone11 is a rapidly expanding industrial hub and we wanted to get in on the ground floor."

The facility includes a three story office complex, light and medium machining equipment, two 15 ton cranes, and four testing stands able to replicate the conditions under which any Ellicott or similar equipment will be used in the field. The location next to the airport was chosen so that specialized parts can be rushed in from anywhere in the world for high value repairs.

The facility will initially employ 40-50 people in two shifts, with a third shift being added if business volumes warrant it.

According to Pres Castillo, the company also hopes to eventually open a larger production facility with access to the main docks so that larger machinery can be loaded directly onto ships. This facility would employ upwards of 300 people and compliment the company's current main plants in Shimura, Japan and Greensburg, PA.

"Zone11 looks like a great location for us with good infrastructure and a talent pool that is both highly skilled and rapidly expanding. The Urban Development Authority worked out a great package of financial incentives to get us to locate here. Ellciott turned 100 last year and we hope to be able to celebrate our next centennial right here in the Zone."

First Airship Docks in Zone11

The Ohio Airship Lines OAS 14 "Spirit of Akron" docked today at the recently completed mooring mast outside of the Zone11 airport.

At 315 feet in length and 51 feet in diameter, with a gas capacity of 334,000 cubic feet, the ship is the smallest fully rigid airship in the OAS fleet and can carry only 6 tons of either cargo or passengers. Two 450HP engines give her a top speed of 67mph and a regular cruising speed of 55mph. She is used primarily for training and site seeing.

The purpose of today's visit was to test the new mooring mast. At 72 feet, it can only safely accommodate small and medium sized ships and only then under certain wind conditions as the mast is of insufficient height to allow ships to clear the airport control tower, should the wind come from the South. The ship's Captain; Edward Smith reports that all tests were successful and that he will recommend to his company that the mast be opened for business. Most flights will be either chartered tourism or research flights or shuttle service from nearby cities to catch international airplane flights from the Zone11 airport.

According to Captain Smith, this mast is less than ideal and can be considered more of an experiment. While the company intends to keep this first facility in operation as it is directly adjacent to the airport, future plans call for a larger mast in a less crowded area of the city capable of handling the largest ships in the company's fleet (up to 4 times the size of the Akron) as well as an enclosed hanger for maintenance and foul weather storage of small and medium ships.
