Dragon's dogma

Is it a solid yes or don't touch it? Is it too much like Dragon Age? The clerk at my video club told be the combat was solid and that this game probably was a great underdog. Anyone played it?

It's not like Dragon Age and I've played neither games. It's more of an action game set in an fantasy rpg world. You can fight/encounter random bosses, follow questlines, get new companions n such. Typical rpg fare, but I've heard good things about it.
