You may see if you can join a different faction, or maybe even make your own one (though that is generally not a good idea), that is allied with the CE.

Than obviously not only will we never see the nether, the nether will be so unhappy Woot doesn't like it that it will kill itself.

The only good thing about the nether are glow blocks....there is a mod out there where you convert 4 gold blocks into a glowstone block...might be worth looking into.
