Hey all you t9kers, today I review what we all know and love, minecraft 1.8! Lets get started.
What was added:
Strongholds/npc villages/abandon mineshafts
Strongholds spawn underground, and has almost a tunnel system. They are rare. Npc villages always spawn on the surface. They consist of many buildings, in which most are 2 level buildings, and a forge. They usually spawn on flat surfaces, and are not as rare as strongholds. Abandon mineshafts are large caves with many wood structures and incomplete rails.
Cave spider
A new mob that will 'poison' the player. When the player is poisoned, the food bar will slowly go down. In abandon mineshafts, there are cave spider spawners, making mineshafts dangerous.
Endermen!
Endermen is a rather tall mob. (tallest in the game.) It will pick up blocks and hold them. They drop the ender pearl, an item that is useless right now. Despite their appearance, they are easy to kill.
Iron bars! A new block that spawns in the newly added Strongholds. It looks like this:

Stone brick, mossy stone brick, cracked stone brick are 3 new blocks that will spawn in strongholds. They are made by placing 4 stone blocks in a square. Mossy spawn in strongholds too, and cant be created, also with cracked stone bricks.
Food bar, exp bar
What you might of noticed right when you got beta 1.8, is the food bar and the exp bar. The exp bar still has some problems though, like if you die, all your exp orbs are dropped, either crashing the server, (or lagging single a ton) or lagging the server tons. Sprinting, a new feature added where you can run across long distances, (unless food bar is down) uses the food bar. The food bar also depletes over time.
Bow pullback
we all know the good bow, a pvp weapon MUST HAVE. Notch has added the new bow pullback! This new attack will damage a lot more then what one arrow will do. They also fly further.
Last but not least, melon seeds/pumkin seeds!
Melons are new blocks that will drop 3-7 melon slices upon breaking. You would grow melons by finding a melon seed in an abandon mineshaft, and planting them on farmland. The seed will grow a melon if there is a farmland block beside it. (same with pumpkin seeds)
The only thing I might complain about is the lag. Generating a new world causes that especially. I would probably rate 1.8 a 8/10.
