He's only in Nightmare before Christmas. He wasn't in the book that the movie was based off of and is (imo) the most pointless movie villain of all time.

Also you're not wrong when you say he's a "big cushion with bugs as stuffing," but if you rewatch the This is Halloween intro he's also the "shadow of the moon at night, filling your dreams to the brim with fright."
