minecraft survival lag is bad

i joined and fell out of the world losing all my items, my first sign of lag, everytime somebody logs in they are falling in the dark abis, sometimes they die sometimes they dont, also chat is way behind, world chunks are taking forever to load infront of somebody, chests take forever to open, and players keep freezing, please try and fix this lag issue sonic
