Need a new Gaming Headset. Recommendations?

I've been using a set of Roccat Kave 5.1 headphones for the last couple of years but they're pretty much done for now; lots of crackling and hissing and certain channels cut out if you move the wire about.

I bought the Corsair Raptor HS40 as they claim to be 7.1 surround sound, are USB, and are fairly inexpensive. Unfortunately, after receiving them today I've discovered that it is in fact a stereo headset that somehow emulates 7.1 sound through a software application. Apparently. Little bit disappointed to say the least.

Anyway.

Cue a trip to return them to the store for a full refund. Meanwhile, what headsets are you guys using for gaming? I prefer at least 5.1 surround sound and preferably not going to break the bank. Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

I can't speak specifically for a gaming headset, but I use ATH M50x's:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JZRXWRW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and then attach one of these thingys when I need it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00029MTMQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's not as convenient as a headset, but personally, I'd high quality and accurate sound. Of course, Turtle beach headsets are pretty highly rated - I've tried a pair on while in Best Buy and they were really comfortable from what I remember.

I just recently got http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HLUZXAY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 these right here, and I think they are pretty damn good for less than $25. THough, I just found out that since these are the Chinese make of the headset, they aren't exactly 100% legal to sell in the States (though I don't know why exactly.)

I've looked at those ones. They have the same issue for me as the ones I'm taking back - they aren't real 7.1 surround but emulated.
The Roccat Kaves were excellent until they started to break, and there are multiple speakers in each ear for genuine surround sound. Maybe I've just been spoiled aha.

But in all seriousness, my current headphones are just...headphones, so being you want a headSET, the only one I can recommend is the Astro A30 which my brother owns and likes a lot, and after using them, they were pretty amazing (Mixamp is pretty much required for the fancy sound though). However that seems to be an old model, there's new ones now but I honestly can't say if they're better or not, but I don't imagine they'd be worse.

I've gone through almost all of the older Razer headphones from Carcharias to Kraken, and my recommendation would be not to buy those. So far, I've been using these: Steelseries Siberia V2

They've lasted me for almost 3 years now and has taken a fair amount of abuse considering its thin frame. If my current pair dies, I would most likely just buy another pair.

The Siberia V2's left earcup and mic died on me, twice, on two separate headsets, all within a few weeks of ownership.

Though not a headset, I've walked into so many Gamestops and finally decided to investigate the sound systems they use.

The Logitech Z-5500. I want one. So bad. They sound so good.
