Only posting as there has been no official response, no updates, no nothing other than spam and apparently deleted posts.... Can we get an official response as I'm getting bored of reading the poor grammer?

I did do a search and it appears most of them are deleted, but man are these puppies coming at us every day.

Proof of said arguments:

In all seriousness, there's gotta be a central spot that these things are coming from...

If it was a single IP address, I'm sure Woot would have banned them long ago. There probably isn't a simple solution here.

honestly I don't remember what the registration security was like, but maybe an increase in that would help?
unless they're using already pre-existing accounts or something...

I don't disagree, just looking for an official statement after months of bullcrap

I like the suggestion that a new member must "like" at least 1 post before they are allowed to make a new thread. Or maybe, they are required to like at least 1 post, and respond to at least 1 thread, before being able to make a new thread.

Dear god no, not captchas.

Also, it's been proven that captchas provide absolutely zero help in preventing bots from doing what they do. Bots are advanced enough to solve captchas. Captchas are outdated and are just plain annoying to human beings.

Answer a question captcha, not the stupid crap with the jumbled mess of letters. Also don't bellyache about doing 1 simple extra step to making a thread, it's not like you have to use captcha for every post or every word you type... IT'S JUST FOR MAKING A THREAD! (or account creation :))

Repeat: Captchas. Don't. Work.

However, our research recently showed that today’s Artificial Intelligence technology can solve even the most difficult variant of distorted text at 99.8% accuracy. Thus distorted text, on its own, is no longer a dependable test.

not the stupid crap with the jumbled mess of letters Guess I could just say Turing test, but yes I agree the old "What does it say" Captcha that is just decrypting images is extremely dated.

This is partly true. Some bots are smart enough to solve traditional captchas. The recaptcha project by google (See: https://www.google.com/recaptcha/) objective was to develop basic human level Artificial Intelligence which is ironically what is causing bots to be able to solve captchas.

Solving a captcha for account creation I agree with 100%.
Solving a captcha for a new thread might be controversial.

I feel the best option for this time is just ignoring the spam and doing standard admin/mod stuff to deal with it.
If Woot wants to add this stuff I am cool, I just don't feel this is big enough of an issue at this point to justify bugging him to add captcha support continuously.

EDIT: I just found out that the recaptcha project has been updated to examine your browser fingerprint to determine if you are a human. I found a test page that has the widget embedded in it if any oy you want to try it out (Link: http://patrickhlauke.github.io/recaptcha/)

Suggestion: When signing up for T9k, one must click a box which says in bright bold letters:
"ASKING FOR ADMIN OR ANY NEW GAME MODES WILL RESULT IN A PERMANENT BAN FROM T9K"

These aren't really a big deal, it is what it is, and as this is just a service for community members we don't support these threads more than a comment.
