General Anime Discussion Thread

This is coming from a dude who hasn't watched one single season of any sort of anime ever...
So bare with my large amounts of new.

Decided to get a few animes off a friend since I've been doing nothing with my life.
I asked for a wide range of things and basicly she said these are either... To quote
"Animes that I should watch/have to watch just to say I watched them/just because.", what I got was.
Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, Gurren Lagann and Highschool of the Dead.
I've been watching through Cowboy Bebop and loving it, but tell me about the others because I haven't the faintest clue.

EDIT:
Oh yes, and... ugh.
I forgot it's name.
Something about invisible arms and slicing people in half.
But I don't think that narrows it down much.

Stamp of approval on the others. Also, highschool of the dead = tits. Alot of tits. Watch it for the tits. Supersonic oscillating tits and shit. Good stuff.

Skip high school of the dead. It should be renamed to fan service the anime. Just a bunch of tits.

List of good animes:
Black Lagoon (Watch thedub, so much better)
bobobo-bobo-bobo (I think only the dub exists for this)
Deadman Wonderland
Code Geass (dub is good)
FLCL
FMA (definitely dub!)
FMA Brotherhood (Dub!)
The first 5ish Initial D episodes cause its worth it.
Soul Eater (Dub is really good for this)
Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt (watch the dub!)
Steins Gate (for science shit)
Nichijou
Nichibros
Azumanga Daioh (these last 3 all have a similar undertone. Random funny shit cut up into sections)

if you need 2deep4u anime, Neon Evangelon Genesis.
 
Original Dragonball for fanservice and krillins gay porn mags.

Watch High School of The Dead for action and titties.
FMA Brotherhoods Dub hurt my ears.
Code Geass is fine with both Sub/Dub although I prefer the former.
There's a ton of anime lists on this thread and the other thread posted by Kon.

After Cowboy Bebop I'd recommend watching the Fate series (Fate Stay Night/Fate Zero) and then both Code Geass seasons.

Also any of the "Big Three" are excellent gateway animes.
 
I think the reason why I was told to watch Highschool of the Dead was probably under the "Just Because" Section.
Anyways, if it's just Supersonic oscillating tits then I'll just skip it.

I think you're not getting the point. Its boobs that can move fast enough to let a bullet pass between them, from the side. It'll probably be the most magnificent thing that you'll ever see in your entire life.

Fate Stay Night does lose a lot of it's appeal if you haven't touched the Visual Novel but I still wouldn't rate it as mediocre, although in the end it does come down to personal preference.
 
I've seen many anime shows, but that amount may actually be small to some. Currently I'm on the Index/Railgun series and have been enjoying them so far! Uiharu is adorable.

I like these series a with good amount of action/comedy/love-comedy. Story complexity like with Steins;Gate is a bonus. Still deciding on what I should watch next, maybe I should catch up on some series that I stopped watching after a certain point. The only problem is that I forget where exactly I left off and its just uuuugh I'll just start on this other anime, lol.
 
Some people think its stupid but I like shows with overpowered main characters. Like Index/Railgun for instance. In a world with special abilities, someone with the ability to nullify abilities... inbalanced as fuck. Higurashi/Umineko are great for the thinking mind though its not entirely scientific and has *magic*.

Anyone who has the cheek to call the Fate series mediocre in front of me is looking for a good slapping from me. With my nutsack. Its without doubt my favourite series ever. Fate/Zero adds alot of background to the events in Fate/Stay Night. And as Skryter mentioned, you ain't seen nothing till you've read through the visual novel. Sure there's porn in it but its only a tiny portion of the full story, which spans over 3 different routes. Be sure to catch the Unlimited Bladeworks movie as well. It might not have "Fate" in its name and thus be overlooked, but it follows the 2nd route in the visual novel. Plenty of epic moments.

tl;dr watch Index and Railgun. Watch Fate series and read visual novel.

Unlimited Blade Works felt rushed to be honest with you, but that doesn't mean it wasn't awesome.

i think its a nice twisting love serie.. Short perhaps but very twisting and funny from time to time.
If i should compare it with other series i seen they biggest thing i notice is the length of the series ToraDora had 25 episodes. And that is kinda short for me if i campare these..

While example Shakugan no Shana

hade maybe 100 episodes? i don't remember but it got atleast 3 seasons with atleast 25 episodes in every season, and i whould recommand Shakugan no Shana if you want a slow progressing love betwen the man caracters, and Alot of sword fighting and magic and so on.

got 3 seasons with 51 episode in each and a total of 129 episodes, i whouldent bother checking season 3 though its 10 mins waste and the episode only get 10 mins long insteed for 20 mins.

I know i told about it befor But the way i did it dident feel 'fair' to the series i Do have watched some of the recomanded but these are after all my favs these 2 and now ToraDora have Actually joined up with them Though its so short. it gains a full 10/10 for the twisting events in the end.

This may sound like a review but trust me its not, some series i refuse to watch that i already know of like Naruto or Dragon ball

I just feel i need to post something like this, i am apperently into these kind of things ''kind of'' You watch if You want i give you a hint way here to any of these 3 series (I know i sound dumb but yea thats who i am :3)

this might be my last said thing about the series so don't be annoyed by it, and after all if you actually Have watched them i whould gladly like your opinion though am sure i wont get any..

So, I just started to watch Shakugan no Shana and I've come to the conclusion that most Tsundere characters (Louise, Taiga, Shana, Aria) in Anime's that I've watched have the same Seiyu.

Well of course, its the legendary loli-tsundere seiyuu Rie Kugimiya.
If it has attitude and its tits are small, 95% chance its Rie.
