Team9000 Teams/Squads

I think it could be awesome if we got a Starcraft 2 team/ group that had set practice dates and such, Or maybe an Arma 2 Squad seeing that it is Free now.

I am totally willing to teach/coach anyone who wants to get decent at Starcraft II. I'd love nothing more than to see a T9K Starcraft team.

Also, Arma 2...it's free. Don't know if that includes multiplayer, but goddamnit that game is unbelievably fun when played with other people.

An Armagetron team is also not a bad idea, I mean we already have a server and everything.

And let's not forget Counter Strike! Either Source or 1.6.

If you want to handle the actual organizing of the SC2 team-ish-thing, either narwhals or plato, I will put my full support behind you. Anything that gets people playing games together gets my full support.

Awesome!

You know what would make this a hell of a lot easier? Having a Steam page for each of these "squads". There's already a T9K group on there, I think I'll set one up for the SCII squad. It'll be far easier to organize around that, being able to post when we're gathering and such, unless we can somehow just get access to the main T9K page and post events from there.

I have full control on the t9k steam page, if you want events set up or anything, just let me know and I can handle it no problem...no need to make it more complicated than it has to be. Just 1 congregation spot rather than multiple.

Interesting proposal though would this be based solely on the pc or would it's reach extend out to console gamers if it works out.

I'll definitely be interesting in making a group or SC: 2 once I buy a new hard drive that is.

Might i direct you to the Starter Edition? Here, it's a sort of unlimited demo, few missions from the campaign and a few multiplayer maps you can play as the Terran faction. Requires a Battle.net account, however.

There's nothing limiting you console guys from organizing in the same fashion - I'd suggest digging through the Gamertag thread for Xbox users or starting a PS3 thread. Hell, I'm considering getting a 360 myself so I might help. Most of us are PC gamers, but I'll be damned if the Xbox doesn't have a few great mutltiplayer exclusives.

And once I've got the SCII page set up I'll be sure to shoot you an invite through Steam :)

cs 1.6...ah would be so much fun

Hey man, I'm all for a 5v5 Counter Strike team. You and me make 2, we just need to round up a trio of 1.6 players and we're good to go (or, you know, more than 3, because the more the merrier :D). Think we should make a page for Counter Strike on Steam as well?

Is anyone in the world still competing in 1.6?? Tommy and I both used to play in leagues, but I feel like there are not anywhere near enough people playing it, like everyone has moved on to newer things(Though I hope CS:GO brings some of that back)

It is actually still RATHER popular - the competitive community more or less refuses to accept Source as the successor to 1.6 (not without reason, it really just doesn't work as an eSport), and they've stuck to 1.6, not unlike the still-booming Brood War community in Korea.

Are you saying you'd be interested in a Counter Strike 'squad'?

While I love 1.6, i feel like the actual ability compete on a real level wouldn't be attainable...don't stretch yourself too thin. Pick a place, start there, produce results, then expand.
