Steam Summer Sale 2014

As much as I hate to admit it, I have never played a final fantasy game. Please don't beat me.

So to the point: any suggestions on which one(s) to pick up and start with for a total noob? and/or easiest to get hold of/most addictive etc etc. (Any platform)

FFVII is good to start because it's available on Steam. Otherwise I would suggest maybe FFIX, and maybe XIII because it is pretty, but I thought the lack of an open world until the 3rd disc was dumb.

Anyone into 4X Games like Civilizatioin and such, and also likes fantasy, I would recommend getting Age of Wonders III while it's on sale the last day if you can spare the money for it.
