When a man... hits a woman... or what I like to call... equality.

I've been having this argument way too much lately, and maybe I'm just that guy, or maybe I'm arguing with idiots.

I usually find intelligent, well-rounded people here, so lets see what everyone's take on this is...

My opinion:

If a woman attacks a man, say, punch him in the face... he can hit her back, and not be labeled a "coward" because he hit a women.

In the days of olde, men were chivalrous, and did not hit women. Women back then also stayed in their "place" and had no rights. Today women still fight to be as equal as men, even though broken lots of ground. In my eyes, women are equal.

However, they should be equal in all rights, including getting knocked the fuck out... if one swings on a man. Now a man who hits a woman, or ANYONE for no reason is a coward. Sucker punches are always a bitch move in my book, but if a woman is hitting me in the face, I'm not going to stand there and take it, or walk away. Nope. We fightin'.

Right? or Wrong?

No bashing, but I want to know your opinion.

I agree entirely.

I, too, agree entirely.

This is why I hate almost all women's right's activists.

They miss a couple of key details.

1(regarding the issue that sometimes women are not paid as much for the same job as men): It's called capitalism, employers can pay their workers whatever they want to over minimum wage. It's why I prefer socialism. (in short, get a better boss/job)

2(That they're entitled to say and do whatever they want, and not get any backlash, because they're female): This is just plain stupidity.

Jersey, you should visit the feminist side of tumblr. It'll be... Educational.

Last night I had to physically restrain one particularly inebriated young woman as she attempted to take swings at another inebriated young woman. I got punched in the face.

I punched back.

I have combat training that outweighs drunken bitch hate. She went down. Her friend called the cops on me, laughing that I was gonna go to jail forever....

Cops laughed and told me they weren't even going to bother taking me down to the station for a statement, 'cause witnesses all agreed I was physically assaulted while trying to prevent the woman from physically assaulting someone else. I love my city.

While the very beginning of feminism was a positive thing, it's simply turned into something ugly that fights for women superiority, not equality.

While I must entirely disagree with the Socialism part, the wage gap between men and women is greatly exaggerated and is anywhere from miniscule to nonexistent. The whole "women get paid 77 cents on every dollar a man gets paid" is entirely bullcrap. Here's an article explaining it - http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/02/01/no-women-don-t-make-less-money-than-men.html

Thanks for this, I was just going off of what I was told, I knew it was probably exaggerated in some places.

I believe that such direct equality should respond with positive and negating outcomes. What it means to be equal is to share that of all the consequences and not just claim the benefits of being "equal to man" or else it will come to a point where in a subtle way, women become known for their superiority above man.

But in such an instance, most of which is agreeable. Each individual should be treated with the respect of simply being human. I'm certain each individual does not need a title amongst themselves and be profiled by others every time they carry themselves out in public. Instead of peering over mankind as separate classes, sexual orientation, although I understand it cannot be helped, everyone should be seen as equal in humanity from the inside.

The issue here is what you consider "fighting back". More importantly the "back" part of "fighting back". If a girl right up in meaning to hit you, hits you, then yes self defense is always good.
Now lets say playfully she hits you, or even on accident. I don't see fighting back to be a legitimate option here. I understand that some people have a reflex where they'll immediately hit back after being hit (I too have that reflex.) and if this happens then I understand completely. But the male in this situation should apologize. (Along with the female if it was on accident.)

I feel like it depends on the situation.

When my ex would physically restrain and hit me for playfully hitting him as we wrestled was not okay.

A woman angrily starting an altercation by punching a man, hit that bitch back.
These situations apply to everyone though. Not just females.

I'm a feminist.

I believe that women and men should have equal rights.

Unfortunately nowadays the image of Feminism is tainted by those crazy WOMEN SHOULD RULE EVERYTHING activists, so whenever I mention that I'm a feminist I have to brace myself for some backlash. :(

Any person that takes a swing at another person should expect retaliation, regardless of their gender. The idea that it's somehow wrong for a man to hit a women, regardless of the circumstances, is complete bullshit spewed by morons that believe that they're the defenders of social justice or some other self-righteous cause.

I might be the odd one out on this, but I think it all depends on the scenario and difference in size. If they're an average sized woman attacking an average sized man for no reason, then I believe he should be able to defend himself but also should use some level of restraint if possible (rather than just knocking her out cold). But.. if he's some little, 120 pound guy or something, then I think he should do anything necessary to defend himself.

Yeah I never really understood how this was a debate.I mean,if women really want too be equal to men then they should expect the same retaliation from them. It's only fair.

So you're saying that the man should go out of his way (allowing the situation to possibly escalate), rather than just knock her out and get it over with?

I think everything should be met with immediate, potent consequences.

I've gone my entire life without ever getting in a fight. It really isn't hard to do.
