house gives cispa the ok.

I was more commenting on the sentiments of those who posted before me, complaining about Obama / Republicans / Beese's left testicle / not living in Australia, etc.
Oh, good. Politics shall remain inexplicable, like Aliens, oui? [/derail]
EDIT: FTFY.

What Vorsprung said, all our politicians are complete trash over here, while in America some are barely likeable...
I mean, from what I can tell, Obama seems like a great president...
Who's suffered from having a really bad run in terms of events (he's had to deal with Afghanistan, the BP oil spill, the GFC, etc.), and from having to be pushed and pulled through a fairly hung senate.

You Americans seem to feel very strongly against opposing political parties.
It seems to me that you're either downright Democrat or downright Republican.
Don't get me wrong; I have zero clue what actually goes on in the US, and I'm making generalizations here.

But don't be so negative.

At least you live in a country where you can, at the very least, trust your government to, say, protect you by having measures such as police forces, armies and other things, like the Bill of Rights or whatever.

Just chill.

Or do what we Australians do, and just hate all the politicians!
I mean, Abbot's a wanker, Gillard's voice makes me want to pull out my eyeballs, and Brown scares me.
And Katter Katter Katter Katter Katter Katter Katter Katter Katter Katter Katter Katter Hates Gays Hates Jews.
lol... i don't think you follow politics in Australia...

First Bob Brown has resigned
Gillard is a back stabber and political slut
And Abbot is a trust-able man wanker

whats wrong with gays? :(

So this might turn into a really bad economy.
Economy is already really bad. This bill, and bills like it will have a negligible effect on overall US GDP. This is more about keeping the internet open, anonymous, and not crappy.
complaining about Obama - Obama seems like a great president
He is an improvement from the last president when considering character and personality. A lot of hate for Obama is misplaced and the majority don't hate him. However, most are disappointed by the waste in potential. He has tried too hard to negotiate with people who do not want to negotiate and hasn't just put his foot up their asses and gotten shit done. Getting out of our problems wasn't going to be easy and the people who thought he would save the day in 4 years are fucking twats. So far it has been rough to say the least, but at least he hasn't completely fucked things up like the last one, we'll see what happens.
what actually goes on in the US
My incomplete observation and analysis that is not necessarily the complete picture
In theory, the United States government draws its power from the people voting. The undeclared, but accepted, economic system is a mix of capitalism (capitalism meaning using capital as a means of production, so technically communists are also capitalists) and socialism. Specifically free market with social programs. However a majority are proud, maybe even blindly proud of labeling this country as strongly free market. In theory, the free market is touted as opportunity, the people who work hard will enjoy the fruits of their labor, people vote with their wallets, and high quality products come out on top, etc. This has definitely happened. A pessimistic view of our economic culture would be "make money". Specifically, in whatever way you can, subvert regulation, if you can't do that use assets to convince people in the right places (legislature) to change regulation, buy out people, buy out companies, you are not obligated to follow moral standards. People with wealth can use wealth to attain even more wealth.

And the number one thing that is going on in the United States is money talks. It is what makes the world go round here, in science, industry, and politics. Washington D.C. is crawling with unelected lobbyists that use wealth to apply their influence. Corporation and people can use wealth to influence a system that was supposed to be by the people for the people (all people, not just the wealthy ones). In the process the supposed voice of the people wanes. This is the root of most problems here.

Is it this cut and dry? No. A large portion of the population is ignorant. Easily swayed by the empty promises of political candidates, easily convinced by the empty banter of many media outlets. They refuse or are unable to do their own research to see through the bullshit. They bicker about mediocre issues and ignore more important ones. A huge portion (if not all) of the problems here come from the people.
im not taking any sides
Choosing the lesser of evils is preferred.

A person becomes a homosexual ultimately by choosing to be involved in same-sex activity.
Homosexuality is a desire or tendency to direct affection or interest to the same sex, it does not involve becoming (maybe discovering). I like women, but if I choose to be involved in same-sex activity that does not make me a homosexual, it might make me experimental or highly curious. In the end I still like women, generally I was born with it, unless I rigorously condition myself to be naturally attracted to men, which I imagine would be incredibly hard and emotionally stressful .

If this bill passes

not only I will facepalm for 1000 years.

It will prove that america is a country, that not worth living in...for anyone...even americans!

1984. I think America doesn't realise that if they keep going like this, they will eventually turn into one of those dystopian places. already the 1% controls 43% of the money.

Homefront for Xbox 360: Plausible dystopian future in which America's economy goes to shit ("the demise of the U.S. dollar") as well as its environment and whatnot. Korea, whose two sides recently joined together, takes this opportunity to conquer the Americans and force them to conform to the "Greater Korean Republic's" ways or be killed in some way.

Why cant people see that Obama is bought and paid for by most of the same people who have been running the show for a loooong time? He's just as bad as Bush was and is virtually the same as Willard aka Mitt Romney. Obama is just another puppet figurehead for the illuminati.

Ron Paul 2012! Rand Paul 2016!

yes, because its so rediculous to suggest that there are very wealthy and powerful people making deals to gain more power and wealth behind closed doors right? bush and kerry arent admitted members of skull and bones right? why did obama and hillary go to bilderberg in 2008? and why did romney also attend bilderberg recently? and of course no politician would ever go somewhere like the bohemian grove right? dont be so naive.

all im saying is that its naive to believe that powerful people never conspire against other people for their own personal gain.

Sure, but conspiracies, although they sounds likely, leave out a LOT of facts which completely sway it out of their way. It's very similar to the media these days; you have to really dig to find a fact, even then, it's probably a stretched truth which is stupid because theres another fact that they didn't include which makes it sounds really dumb.

Here in Australia, BOTH of the leading newspapers are run by conservatives. It's hard now to get any unbiased information. That's why I pay attention to your politics.

This is true, and that's why I form my own opinions on subjects, which is why I barely read the newspaper or the news.
